burnay

Our Burnay pots are traditionally crafted in a

very remote corner of the Philippines using wood

fired kilns. The designs you see have been in use

in the Philippines since before the arrival of the

Spanish. The burnt brown/black colour is the

natural shade of the local clay when it is fired

to a very high temperature.

fibreclay

Fibreclay has come to the fore of the planter market over

the last few years. Whilst it has always been popular, an

increasing appreciation of its environmentally friendly

credentials and improved manufacturing techniques

have prompted even further demand.

It is a composite of clay and the recycled waste product of paper

mills that can be fired at low temperatures without sacrificing

durability. As such, Fibreclay requires only 10% of the energy in

manufacture as ceramic equivalents. It lends itself particularly

well to the manufacture of faux lead planters, as it gently emits

salts that provide an attractive, misty patina.
