BP Common Aim
By April 2023, states and jurisdictions will decrease bullying victimization by 2% from the November 2018 baseline for children and adolescents ages 6 through 19, through the implementation and spread of evidence-based bullying prevention strategies and programs.
Creating a Collaborative
• Each Strategy Team will
• Set your own aim to reflect the outcome’s you seek to achieve for their specific context.
• Select strategy(s) and measure(s) from the topic change package.
• (Optional) Identify and work on additional strategies and measures, from the change package or from other resources.
• Set your own goals for each selected measure.

Our goal is to have multiple teams
working on the same strategies and
collecting the same measures to
enable collaborative results and
collective impact.

Spreading Change

Spread
Implementing and Spreading Strategies is Iterative
Implementing Sustainably
• Infrastructure is in place to ensure long-lasting successful results (e.g. training, documentation, standardization, feedback and measurement systems, and adequate resourcing)
• Requires change to an existing system
• Increased awareness and reaction to the new strategy
• Implementation cycles generally require more time than testing cycles
• The team that tested the strategy will often be involved in implementing the strategy, and additional supports will be needed

Where do We Start?
What is a System?
“An interdependent group of items, people, or processes with a common purpose”
The Improvement Guide, Pg. 37
What can be viewed
as a System?• An organization
• A division
• A coalition
• A program
• A project
• Partnerships
What are the parts
of a System?• Relationships
• Processes
• People
• Tasks
• Beneficiaries
• Suppliers
“In a system, not only the parts, but the relationships
among the parts become opportunities for improvement”
Parts of a System
Processes
Linked
Together
Purpose of the System
The conversion of inputs into outputs
Individuals and Organizations involved
Resources required
Clients or beneficiaries
Outcomes that benefit a
customer or consumer
Measures
Setting Goals for Your Strategies
• SPECIFIC! Include a clear and well-defined SYSTEM (organization) and POPULATION (who exactly?)
• MEASURABLE! Includes QUANTITATIVE GOALS (how much?)
• ACTIONABLE! Within your sphere of influence
• REALISTIC! (but ambitious) It is aligned with your organization’s priorities and you have the time and resources
• TIME-BOUND! Includes a TIME FRAME by when results will be achieved (by when?)
SMART Goal Example
By March 2019, 50% more public schools
will be implementing Olweus Bullying
Prevention Program. Currently, 200
primary and middle schools are
implementing the Program. We aim to
reach 300 schools across Dade,
Montgomery, and Oak County.
Stakeholder Analysis
• Identify stakeholders
• What is their purpose in your system?
• What are they most interested in?
• What is their biggest concern?
• What do we need to do to get their support?
Share Your Thoughts

What partners have you identified?
What are their strengths?
What are any challenges you are experiencing?
Next Steps: Strategy Team Work
Hold a team meeting to
• Review your system, goals, and stakeholder analysis
• Create a systems map for your strategies
• Create goals for your strategies/measures
• Fill out the stakeholder analysis
• Review the spread planner
• Take meeting minutes to share at the in-person Learning Session in February/March
