Bulli Aged Care Centre of Excellence
Construction Update
Construction on the Bulli Aged Care Centre of Excellence continues in 2018 with the preparation of the site that will accommodate the new Bulli Hospital.
After the successful demolition of the Bulli Hospital Hall, bulk earthworks are continuing including the remediation of the site, installation of an onsite storm water detention tank and a retainer wall.
Works also include the refurbishment of a parking area at the rear of the NSW Ambulance Station which will accommodate 14 permanent vehicle parking spaces for the new facility.
Live Site Camera
You asked and we delivered! Staff at Bulli Hospital suggested the use of a time-lapse camera to document the progress of construction. A camera has been placed on site to capture images during construction hours.
When construction is complete the images will be combined to produce a time-lapse video following the construction journey. Log on and see the progress at bulli.health.buildcam.com.au
The Project Team thank you for
your patience during construction.
We will have strategies in place
throughout the project to keep
disruption to a minimum.

Preparing for Change
In anticipation of staff relocating to the new Bulli Aged Care Centre of Excellence when construction is complete, Bulli Hospital staff have been participating in a round of change management forums. These sessions are focussed on looking at current practices and the suitability of relocating those practices to the new site.
New ward layouts and improved clinical spaces open up opportunities to rethink and promote innovation. The change management forums have been filled with active discussions in the true spirit of CORE, examining options and opportunities to deliver the best care possible to our patients and their families.
Some of the themes we have discussed include;
Improving the patient experience
Patient and Staff Safety
Current models of care
How these will be managed within the new facility.
The outputs from these sessions will ultimately result in the development of a Change Management Register which will help all teams work collaboratively with one another and facilitate consultation with staff, managers and consumers to deliver improved patient experience and outcomes.
Where possible changes will be implemented prior to the relocation to minimise the level of change that staff will experience when the new facility is commissioned mid- 2019.
What is the Bulli Aged Care Centre of Excellence?
The Bulli Aged Care Centre of Excellence is an innovative collaboration between Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) and IRT.
The new $50.4 million Centre of Excellence has been specifically tailored to meet the requirements of the local population.
The project will see the construction of a new facility opposite the existing Bulli Hospital, to transform the site into a centre of excellence focussed on geriatric medicine.
