At PTS we are building a community of care. It is sometimes tricky to know the right words to say to a person who is going through a difficult time, especially the loss of a loved one. Simple expressions of empathy and caring are the most appreciated. Avoiding questions about “what” and “when” help the person know you are concerned without burdening them with recounting the painful experience. Share that you are available if the person would like to talk, and that you are sorry for what they are going through. May we all be messengers of comfort to each other.
Warmly, Rabbi Dan Feder
