It was a wonderful celebraƟon of the true leaders of our community. CongratulaƟons to the prize winners of Mrs Ginters Trivia and I do hope everyone enjoyed the superb morning tea service from our stage 3 students. The K‐6 media producƟon team are finalising their filming from the day and will soon be releasing their short ‘Grandfriend's’ documentary. Last Thursday our year 5 students parƟcipated in a leadership day preparing them for the upcoming leadership process where the school selects our new leaders for 2019. During week 7 our year 5 students will present their leadership speeches to our school community. The announcement of our incoming leaders for 2019; 2 captains represenƟng K‐6, 2 captains represenƟng our Support Unit and 4 Vice Captains K‐6, will take place at our formal PresentaƟon Day ceremony on the 12 th of December. Community feedback idenƟfied student leadership as a disposiƟon that is valued and one that we need to further develop in our students as they grow and embark on all endeavours in life. As a school we have taken this feedback on‐board and in collaboraƟon with our students we have developed a leadership passport that gives all children the opportunity, K‐6 to be leaders within our school. On the leadership day our exisƟng year 4 students prepared for and learnt all about their buddies coming to big school next year and are absolutely thrilled to be meeƟng them in the coming weeks. I look forward to meeƟng all of our 2019 families, exisƟng and new at our Kindergarten Expo on Wednesday morning. Every year the school reviews and reflects on procedures and Department Policy to address and update any relevant changes for our students. This year the execuƟve team have reviewed many of these formal documents inclusive of the Student Wellbeing and Discipline Policy and the AnƟ‐bullying Plan. The Student Wellbeing and Discipline Policy outlines the school’s expectaƟons and the processes in place to support student wellbeing, manage behaviour choices and to acknowledge excellence; while the AnƟ‐bullying Plan outlines the processes for prevenƟng and responding to student bullying in our school and reflects the Bullying: PrevenƟng and Responding to Student Bullying in Schools Policy of the NSW Department of EducaƟon. These draŌ documents will be tabled at the upcoming P&C meeƟng. We welcome wriƩen feedback from our school community over a two week period, concluding Wednesday 5th December, 2018. You can also find a copy of the draŌ documents on the school website. We are now beginning to formulate classes in preparaƟon for the new year, our student numbers are steady and we predict to maintain our 8, K‐6 mainstream classes alongside our 3 support unit classes for students with addiƟonal learning needs. Staff will be puƫng in a great deal of Ɵme creaƟng the best mix of students for every class, taking in to account any special circumstances of students. If there are any circumstances of which you believe the school should be aware of, please provide informaƟon in wriƟng directly to the office, for my aƩenƟon. Whilst the school always takes any informaƟon provided in to consideraƟon, it may not always be possible to meet wishes. It is important that informaƟon be provided prior to the establishment of classes as it is only in the most extreme cases that changes are made once classes are established. Find out about our teaching and support staff and class structures for 2019 at our next P&C meeƟng on the 6 th December. I hope to see you there! 5/6P

5/6P used figura ve language and symbolism to create poetry

Students studied and deconstructed several poems. We had to iden fy the figura ve devices like

metaphors, similes, idioms and imagery. 5/6P then had to write a variety of poems. We

experimented with haikus, acros c, limericks, free verse, diamond and simile poems. Our next step

was to use watercolours and images to show some symbolism. We love our range of poetry and

think they look fantas c!
