Brethren,,

Our Grand Master’s Official Visit to our District has come and gone. With all the compliments I have received, not only from you but, from the Grand Line and other visitors, I believe we can call it a huge success. I can’t take all the credit for that success though because it really belongs to some very special folks who helped me and to all of you.

First and foremost, I want to thank Jackie Bonner and Valerie Harper for their support. They took care of the lady’s program portion and completely removed any concern about it for me. Jackie was also my council for the much of the rest of the dinner reception and when I thought I’d never get things organized was the voice that kept me on track.

Next, I want to thank R.: W.: John Bonner, my Senior Committeeman, and R.: W.: Leonard Harper for all their help. Their support was invaluable.

I also want to thank Brother Eric Schlossberg and his kitchen crew who, even when one of the ovens went down, managed to put out and excellent meal. He really knocked it out of the park with the dessert especially for the Grand Master, since that’s his favorite dessert.

Along with them, I want to thank Hollywood Assembly No. 12 Rainbow Girls, Westside Chapter DeMolay, and W.: Phil Slack and the Brothers of West Broward Lodge who served the meal. W.: Slack put the team from West Broward together on short notice and they did a fantastic job.

We all owe a thanks to American Legion Post 222, for being so generous in letting us use their hall.

I want to thank all of the Brothers from all of the Lodges who came out to help set up the hall and the Brothers of J. Dewey Hawkins who set up the Lodge. I really do appreciate all of the assistance.

I want to thank W.: Mel Heron for serving as our Chaplain not only in the reception but, in the tyled meeting. I also want to thank all of the Worshipful Masters who filled the stations.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who attended the reception and the tyled meeting. I was very pleasantly surprised to see so many show up. I really thought, because it was summer and so many people go away on vacation, that the turnout would be fair at best. I cannot even describe how proud I am of all of you.

Now that the Grand Master’s Official Visit is over, I will begin to concentrate on making official visits. Taking into consideration that it is summer and so many plan and go on trips, as well as some Lodges going dark for that time, I don’t plan to start those visits until September. I will put together a schedule and send it out to the Worshipful Masters soon.

Once again, I will be making trips to other districts to attend their official visits. The next scheduled official visit is for District 23 in Sarasota on August 12th. If anyone is interested in traveling with me, please let me know.

Lastly, I want to wish you and your families a safe, happy, and healthy summer.

Fraternally,

R.: W.: Richard L. Morris District Deputy Grand Master District 26th

Brothers,

I would like to thank everyone who attended the Grandmasters visit last Friday. Our District Deputy did a fantastic job of setting up the event. The hosting lodge North Broward did an event to be proud of, and we thank them. We believe over 200 people attended which is higher than normal. Every chair at J. Dewey Hawkins Lodge was full. The event was very organized and the food was excellent. We all owe our R:.W:. District Deputy and his staff a special thank you.

I would like to thank the American Legion for letting us use their facilities. We could not have done this event without their help.

The Potentate from the Mahi Shrine donated $500 towards our budget for this event. A special thanks to Potentate Latimer and the Shrine for assisting us in this event. W:. Luigi Gandolfo PM President Masters & Wardens District 26th

What has become of the Traveling Gavel?

The Traveling Gavel appears to be setting roots with the Brothers of Roe Fulkerson Lodge. The Brothers of Roe Fulkerson captured the Gavel last March and despite Worshipful Master Passin’s invitations to the lodges of the district, there it remains.

The Brothers of Roe Fulkerson lodge have a called communication for a FC degree on Thursday July 27th and that would be an excellent time to retrieve the Gavel for your own. They will be dark for the month of August so this Thursday will be the last chance until September.

Please remember a courtesy call the lodge (954-494-7994) to assure enough food is on hand for your visit. To claim the “Traveling Gavel” for your Lodge, you may attend either a stated or called meeting with seven or more regular members of your lodge which must include three or more of the elected officers.

Brethren,

Thank you to all the dedicated Brothers who continue to come out to Open Books and School of Instruction. We had another strong showing in July and our practice sessions for the Grand Master Official Visit paid off. Our DDGM, hosting Lodge officers and protem WMs all did a GREAT job representing the District.

Our open forum session with Lodge instructors and Lodge mentors was also very productive with the focus of the evening being on teaching Freemasonry not just the memorization of words. The follow-up action item for all lodge instructors and mentors was to share more of the information readily available in the Mentor's Manual - which is publically downloadable from the GL of Florida website.

Lastly, there are several proficiency card holders who have expiring cards. Let's schedule some time together to renew - you know who you are :-)

For details of upcoming School of Instruction sessions, please check out the website or Facebook group page. Keep the faith Brothers!

Fraternally & Respectfully,

R:.H:. Michael W. Tishman P.M. District Instructor 26th Masonic District

Freemasonry for Young Men

DeMolay is an organization dedicated to preparing young men to lead successful, happy, and productive lives. Basing its approach on timeless principles and practical, hands-on experience, DeMolay opens doors for young men aged 12 to 21 by developing the civic awareness, personal responsibility and leadership skills so vitally needed in society today. DeMolay combines this serious mission with a fun approach that builds important bonds of friendship among members in more than 1,000 chapters worldwide.

The namesake of the Order of DeMolay was born in Vitrey, Department of Haute Saone, France in the year 1244. At the age of 21, DeMolay joined the Order of Knights Templar.

The Knights Templar was an organization sanctioned by the Roman Catholic Church in 1128 to guard the road between Jerusalem and Acre, an important port city on the Mediterranean Sea. The Order of Knights Templar participated in the Crusades and earned a name for valor and heroism. With many nobles and princes sending their sons to join the Knights Templar, the Order also became very wealthy and popular throughout Europe.

In 1298, Jacques DeMolay was named Grand Master of the Knights Templar, a position of power and prestige. As Grand Master however, Jacques DeMolay was also in a difficult position. The Crusades were not achieving their goals. The non-Christian Saracens defeated the Crusaders in battle and captured many vital cities and posts. The Knights Templar and the Hospitalers (another Order of Knights) were the only groups remaining to confront the Saracens.

Fort Lauderdale York Rite

As a Master Mason you've already received the first 3 degrees of York Rite Masonry. Last time you read a book, did you stop after the third chapter or did you read on to see how the story ends? Are you desirous to learn what happens after the Master Mason Degree and the events

that led up to it?

Upon being raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason you were told the Genuine Secrets were lost and that it was necessary to wait until time and circumstance should restore

them. The Royal Arch degree specifically completes the Master Mason degree. York Rite Masonry consists of 3 individual bodies: Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, Council of Royal &

Select Masters and Commandery of Knights Templar.

The degrees will be conferred on four different dates to allow the candidate an opportunity to better comprehend the lessons taught before continuing on. Your desire for Further Light

continues with the degrees of Capitular Masonry.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO RECEIVE THE YORK RITE DEGREES?

You should be serious and enthusiastic about Freemasonry and wish to improve your Masonic knowledge.

You should be interested in completing your degrees in Pure and Ancient Freemasonry

You must be a Master Mason in good standing for 6 months or proficient

Hollywood 12 Rainbow Girls!!!!!

Hollywood 12 has kicked off the new term with great excitement! We truly enjoyed seeing everyone in the district at the Grand Master's Official Visit dinner. Thank you for inviting us to serve! How wonderful it was to serve along side our DeMolay brothers and share in the enthusiasm for Masonic youth organizations. Our GWA, Ansley Rae has been working hard to get her term, Hearts on Fire, spreading throughout the state. If you have not seen her website, you should check it out:

www.gwafl1718.wixsite.com/heartsonfire

Please share this link with everyone! Her first episode of GWA TV has been posted along with some other information about Florida Rainbow and items you can purchase to support her term. Keep an eye out for her Episode #2 coming very soon. It will feature more interviews and pictures of Hearts on Fire igniting throughout the state. Our Grand Hope, Alexandra, from Hollywood, went to visit the Grand Assembly in Washington/Idaho. There are special pictures from her successful visit. You will see exclusives from the 2017 Conclave. Thank you to those Masons who participated in her video at the Grand Master dinner. Make sure to watch all the way to the end of episode 2 for a one on one interview with the Most Worshipful Richard Hoover, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Florida. He has an important message to give to all of the Masonic youth programs. If your lodge would like to send in some pictures using the Hearts on Fire symbol or share an important service event in the district, you can email or text one of the Hollywood 12 advisors. We would love to share this with the girls. You could be the next GWA TV star. Hollywood has also been kindling the flame in a few new pledges who just joined our group. How wonderful to get those very young girls and have the time to shape them to become true servant leaders. Again, this is the perfect time to bring in more girls to our Assembly! One of the most exciting times for an assembly is when you have the GWA. It helps to ignite a girl's enthusiasm for the order so they wish to stay for life. If you know of a young lady who may be interested in joining our Assembly or pledge group, please contact one of our advisors:

Mom Toni/Mother Advisor(954)290-1916 ([email protected]) Mom Terry/Grand Deputy (954)804-1746 Mom Ellen/Advisory Board Chair (954)830-1349.

We want to "keep those hearts a-flaming' " for Rainbow. Thank you District 26! We are so lucky to have your support! You help to make our girls the future leaders they will become filled with patriotism, respect, and love in their hearts for those in need. Thank you for all you do!
