32nd Sunday OT - November 8, 2015 The Cost of Authentic Discipleship
1 Kings 17:10-16 God rewards the trust of the poor
widow. Psalm 146 Praise the Lord, my soul! Heb 9:24-28 Christ offered himself, once and for all. Mark 12:38-44 The parable of the poor widow
Some years ago, when bridge tolls were about a dollar and there were live toll-takers in the booths, it was affordable and fun to perform a random act of kind-ness. If you felt generous, you could pay double the toll and ex-plain: “I’m paying for the car be-
hind me.” Sometimes the second car was able to catch up with the first car and give a happy honk on the horn. Everyone was filled with joy as they exchanged smiles and friendly waves. The scripture today contrasts "show-off" givers with the humble widow who secretly gave all she had. If we are truly giving to God, then only God needs to see what we have done. We don’t have to lag behind so the second car will catch up with us. Love is its own reward. -- Deacon Dick Folger
Next Week’s Readings… Dan 12:1-3 The promise of God’s coming and of
eternal life Psalm 16 You are my inheritance, O Lord. Heb 10:11-14, 18 Jesus makes the perfect priestly
sacrifice: himself. Mark 13:24-32 Signs of the Messiah’s coming

Deo Gratias -- “Thanks Be To God”
We are grateful to God, and to our retired priests in the Diocese of St. Catharines, who, from the time of their ordination, have cared for us and our spiritual needs. In thanksgiving to God for them and their years of faithful service, your generous support of the Deo Gratias collection will enable us to care for those who have dedicated their lives to caring for us. The revenue from this collection does not go in-to an endowment fund but goes directly to the Cler-gy Aid Society which provides an income for our re-tired priests. This special collection will be collected the weekend of November 14-15.
St. Helen's Chili Take Out Night
Friday, November 20th, 5 - 7 p.m.
Complete your order form inserted in this weekend’s bulletin and either drop it off with payment at the par-ish office or place it in a sealed en-velope marked Chili Take Out in
the Sunday Collection Basket. Please join us and volunteer! Phone Anne Marie at 289-566-9090 or send an email to the office.
All Souls Remembrance During the month of November, a parish Book of Remembrance is displayed in the
church. All Souls Remembrance envelopes are available in your box of envelopes or at the doors of the Church. All names of deceased loved ones will be remembered during the month of November.
Please place your intentions in the collection basket with the Sunday Collection.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
