Cuba asegura su pase a la semifinal tras derrotar a Costa Rica

CÓRDOBA, México, 18 de Noviembre de 2014.-‐ Cuba aseguró su lugar en las semifinales tras imponerse en sets seguidos a su similar de Costa Rica por parciales de 25-‐17, 25-‐12 y 25-‐17 en la Arena Córdoba.

El cuadro cubano tuvo en Melissa Vargas a su mejor arma, con un total de 23 puntos, mientras que Verania Willis consiguió 8 para el cuadro costarricense, que peleará por el quinto puesto.

Cuba enfrentará a Puerto Rico en la siguiente ronda, para la que buscará explotar al máximo varias de las estrategias que el cuadro dirigido por Juan Carlos Gala puso en marcha en los cuartos de final.

El saque fue una de sus mejores herramientas, al cerrar con una ventaja de 10-‐2 en ases, cuatro de ellos por parte de Vargas y un bloqueo de 6-‐3 en cuanto a puntos concretados.

México clasifica a semis en el voleibol al vencer a Colombia 3-0

CORDOBA, México, Noviembre 18, 2014 -‐ México consiguió su pase a la semifinal del torneo de voleibol femenino en los XXII Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe luego de vencer a Colombia en sets seguidos. Los parciales fueron 25-‐23, 25-‐17 y 26-‐24.

Andrea Rangel, y Carolina Carranza, registraron 12 puntos cada una, mientras que Seomara Sainz y Claudia Ríos cerraron con 10 unidades respectivamente. Por Colombia, Margarita Martínez y Amanda Coneo cerraron con 17 y 14 unidades. México capitalizó 25 errores de su oponente, mientras que Colombia capitalizó 20.

Las locales dominaron en el bloqueo 6-‐3 y en el saque 4-‐2.

México se medirá ante Dominicana en la semifinal estelar de este miércoles, mientras que Cuba y Puerto Rico precederán las acciones en la Arena Córdoba.

Cuba clinch a berth to the semifinals after beating Costa Rica

CÓRDOBA, México, November 18, 2014 -‐ Cuba clinched a berth into the semifinals at the volleyball tournament of the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games after beating Costa Rica in straight sets (25-‐17, 25-‐12, 25-‐17) at the Cordoba Arena.

The Cubans had their best weapons in Melissa Vargas who tallied 23 points, while Verania Willis finished with 8 for the Costa Rican team that will play for fifth place in next round.

Meanwhile, Cuba will match Puerto Rico and will try to explode all their weapons as they did against Costa Rica in the quarterfinals. Serving was the best strategy for the Caribbean team that closed with a 10-‐2 aces difference in their favor, four of them by Vargas and a blocking advantage of 6-‐3. Cuba surrendered 19 points by mistakes, while Costa Rica gave 20.

Mexico grant a ticket to semis, with a 3-0 win over Colombia

CORDOBA, Mexico, November 18, 2014 -‐ Mexico granted a ticket to the semifinal at the volleyball tournament of the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games, after defeating Colombia in straight sets. Scores were 25-‐23, 25-‐17, 26-‐24.
