Leader: Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.

People: Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation,

for you I wait all the day long.

Leader: We are mindful of your mercy, O Lord, and of your steadfast love, for they have

been from of old.

People: Remember not the sins or our youth, or our transgressions; according to

your steadfast love remember us, for our goodness, O Lord!

Leader: Good and upright is the Lord; therefore, God instructs sinners in the way.

People: God leads the humble in what is right and teaches the humble the way.

ALL: All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who

keep God’s covenant and testimonies.

+PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison)

Our God, within us is a longing and an emptiness that we strive to fill. Our lives seem

devoid of meaning at times, and often we seek solace in unhealthy ways. We search

hungrily for peace of mind and a refreshing sense of well-being. In our search we

often become victims of our fast-paced society. You sent your son, Jesus, to show us

the way, O God, and we turned from him. Your truth is sometimes too harsh for us,

for we prefer our lessons sugar-coated.

Forgive us, O God, and help us to understand that there is no way to peace of mind

and the abundant life than through the Christ. We pray these things in the name of

your son according to his commandment. Amen.
