In his review of the past 12 months President Roy said;"Let me say at the outset that I started the year with my normal mix of cynicism, apprehension at too much process, the strong belief that good people will always do goodthings AND that good people are the backbone of Rotary. I haven’t really changed. Wehave a club full of good people – people who work hard and unselfishly, people who putin, people who are connected, who are trained and who are intelligent. So how can welose? To be president of this club is mostly about letting all these clever, motivated, goodpeople get on with it. And they did – the membership as a whole and particularly theboard and the chairs of the various committees. So my main purpose is to say thank you to them one and all………...” MORE

THE MELBOURNE SAVAGE CLUB
Established in 1894, the Melbourne Savage Club is one of Australia’s oldest and most atmospheric privatemembers clubs.
The clubhouse is an historic 19th century mansion right in the heart of Melbourne.
The club’s name reflects the desire of the founders to encourage a flowering of Bohemian tradition, like theLondon Savage Club, by taking the name of Richard Savage, a free-spirited 17th century English poet.
These origins are expressed today through club members who engage in a broad range of interests across thearts, literature, science and sport.
A diverse mix of academics and artists, lawyers and judges, businessmen and journalists is to be found behind

This abridged note from Tony Thomas may be of interest to the organ enthusiasts in our club community.
“……Curator David Steed invited Tony to put the museum's rare and priceless keyboards through their paces. Tony obliged with a Handel fugue and pronounced the instruments to be in good shape. The museum has 70instruments of which 30 are playable.”

For Tony skeptics -Editor notes that while Tony may be our club shorthand expert hisskills do not stretch to playing the organ. However the Finchcock Museum allows anyone
to sit at several of their collection, and since it is Tony's 75th birthday today we willindulge him!
