The next part of Mass isreceiving Holy Communion.Let me share with you a fewthoughts and expectationswhen you receive Holy

Communion. The manner in which we approach

for Holy Communion is founded on the truth thatthe Eucharist is really and truly the Body, Blood,Soul, and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. It isnot just a symbol or a representation of hispresence. Because of the reverence of beingphysically in Christ’s True Presence, we shouldapproach Holy Communion with devotion, reverence, and respect. Please keep in mind thefollowing guidelines when coming forward toreceive Holy Communion, the Church teaches be-fore receiving Holy Communion, all Catholics areto be free from serious sin and fast from all foodand drink (water and medicine are permitted) forone hour before receiving (Catechism of theCatholic Church # 1385).

When it is time for receiving Communion, form aprocession outside the pew as guided by the ush-ers. Your hands should be folded prayerfully. Asthe person in front of you is receiving, you respect-fully bow, and then step up to the priest, the dea-con, or the Extraordinary Minister of HolyCommunion to receive the Lord in the Eucharist.

When the minister presents the Host to you, he orshe says, “the Body of Christ.” Similarly, when the

Chalice is presented the minister says, “The Blood

of Christ.” Your response to each should be

“Amen ” nothing more. Please say it clearly and

distinctly. You can receive Holy Communion

either on the tongue or in the hands. If you chooseto receive the Host in your hands, place your lefthand over your right (in the shape of a littlethrone to receive the King of Kings). You mustconsume the Host immediately. It is forbidden togive the Host to children (or others) who have notmade their First Communion or to take the Hostout of the Church. You may prayerfully consumethe Host then and there, you don’t need to raise it

up or make any other signs with the Host.

If you wish to receive only a blessing, rather thancommunion, process in line along with the othercommunicants with your arms crossed over yourchest. This gesture lets the priest or ministerknow that you are requesting a blessing and notHoly Communion. When the person in front ofyou is receiving Holy Communion, respectfullybow, and then step up to receive your blessing.Having received your blessing, please return toyour seat in a quiet and prayerful manner.

Dear beloved parishioners of Santa Sophia Faith community, I bring you greetingsfrom the people of Uganda. Thanks so much for your prayers and support. My trip toGermany and Uganda was fabulous. I successfully conducted my research work inNorthern Uganda. It was my first time to go to Northern Uganda in my life. It hasbeen a war zone for over 23 years. I come from mid-Western region of Uganda thatborders Uganda and DR Congo. While in Uganda, I also worked on dual citizenshipand it went well. It was an interesting experience to get a visa to be allowed to enter

Uganda, at Entebbe airport, as I entered the country as a US citizen. In my village community, people were coming morning, afternoon and evening to visit with me and sharemeals with me. They gave a beautiful White Vestment and an Alb in appreciation of the good being done forthe community. Unfortunately, lots of chickens lost their lives for me to have a healthy visit. The goatsproject is doing very well. Some goats are giving birth to two or three babies at a time. We also planted1000 mango seedlings in families in the community. The kindergartens and the technical school projects arealso progressing well.

Thanks so much to the children in the CCD program, their teacher, parents and pa-rishioners who support these programs to help the orphans, poor children and poorfamilies in Uganda. I also would like to thank the Knights of Columbus for their sup-port to the mango project and also for the new battery to have solar light. There are 2

brothers from Valley Center in San Diego, on a mission trip in my village in Ugan-da. They will be their for one month. They are enjoying the solar light in the housewhere they are living, and they are doing great serving the community. They supplied

the community with 1500 mango seedlings. So far there are now 2500 mango trees planted. When you visitmy village, be assured to find lots of goat meat and mangos to eat.

Keep me posted on your future flight schedules to Uganda. The people of Ugandawould love to see you in their villages! God bless you all for your generosity for thesacrifices you make to share with the poor to bring them hope and Jesus' love.

Peace & blessings,Fr. Bosco
