SHOW ME In many areas of life, we indulge our natural cynicism, pessimism and doubt. It’s easy to be skeptic because there is so little we can be absolutely be certain of. Whether we’re talking about history, science, love or even our faith, doubt is always there. Thomas the Apostle, the centre of attention in today’s gospel passage, gives a classic example of uncertainly, about the most fundamental fact of his faith: the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. In this instant, Thomas, truly earns that nickname of “twin”, to us. We can relate with his reaction to the stories of Christ’s Resurrection, because we, too, are a mixture of fear and doubt, of cynicism and trust, of belief and unbelief. We have all been swamped by the same deadly doubt. But joyously as well, we can be twinned with Thomas as his faith is made new. As he kneels before Jesus proclaiming “my Lord and my God” may we too find that the doubt which first shakes our faith, can be the very stuff which strengthens it as well.

HOLY NAME OF MARY PARISH CENTRE PROJECT Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic outbreak and the suffering that may of our parishioners

are going through at this time, it has been decided that all activities concerning this project has been put on hold indefinitely. There has been a lot of time and planning that has gone into this

project to this point which has produced detailed drawing and cost estimations done to this point, which will provide a strong basis to move forward on when things return to normal. The

Building Committee thanks your for your understand and support.

DIVINE MERCY PRAYER O Lord, You who are everlasting mercy, give me a tender heart today towards those to whom the morning light brings less joy than it brings to me: Those in whom the pulse of life grows weak: Those who must lie abed through all the sunny hours: The blind, who are shut off from the light of day: The overworked, who have no joy of leisure: The unemployed who have no joy of labour: The bereaved, whose hearts and home are desolate: and grant Your mercy on them all. Amen.

ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. St. Alphonsus de Liguori

A MESSAGE FROM HNOM FINANCE COUNCIL. Fellow parishioners. As you know HNOM and all other Churches in the Archdiocese have been closed for some weeks now. These are difficult times for our families and our Parish. Undoubtedly there are families with reduced incomes because of COVID-19. Clearly it is very difficult for us to maintain our weekly donations when our Church is closed unless we are on the PayPal donation system, use e-transfer or are mailing or dropping off cheques to the Parish office. Our collection revenues for March 2020 are dramatically less than planned and we expect April to be worse given the current situation. Yet our monthly operational expenses continue as normal. We are making a special appeal for you to consider signing up for PayPal donations. It is easily done and allows you to contribute weekly from your account. If you do not wish to contribute in this way, then please consider mailing in your cheques to the Parish office until we are able to resume normal Church operations. In this way we can continue to meet our HNOM expenses. Thank you for your continuing generosity in these very difficult times. Jim Moore - Chairperson HNOM Finance Council

Sunday Morning Smile Gerry Connors walked his dog through the village every day. One day Mr. Connors is on his walk without the dog. His pal Billy sees him and asks: "Where is your dog?" Mr. Murphy answers: "I had to have him put down." "Was he mad?" asks Billy. "Well, he was none too pleased," Mr. Murphy replies.

EASTER’S WONDERFUL PROMISE In the ordinary course of life we dream and plan hoping our lives will go smoothly. It is a shock to be reminded of how quickly dreams and hopes can be shattered. In a moment when we experience life and death standing side by side, we are jolted into the reality that our certainties are not so certain. After the exhilaration of the Easter Sunday affirmation, “Christ is Risen”,” the Second Sunday of Easter gives way to the fear and doubt of the broken hopes and dreams of Jesus’ disciples. Their fear was contagious, producing doubt within us. But our doubt is productive. Our search for the truth and the answer to our question “Did Jesus rise from the dead?” opens us to recognize the risen Lord. As we seek the Lord, He comes to us, blessing us with the peace, sending us forth to continue His mission, and empowering us with the gift of the Holy Spirit.
