Vista UDS Operation Is Quicker,Easier, SaferVistaUDSwasspecificallydesignedtosimplify
operatingtasks,enhancesafety,andminimize
thedurationofoutages.VistaUDSiscertified
arc-resistantperIEC298AppendixAA,forcurrents
upto12.5kAsymmetricalfor15cycles(25kA
symmetricalfor15cycles,formodelsrated25kA
short-circuit).Intheeventofaninternalfault,the
enclosurewillretainitsintegrity.JustonepersonisneededtooperateVista
UDS.Theresnoexposuretomediumvoltage.The

voltagecablesmustbetesteddirectlyusinga
clampstick-mountedtester.Butvoltagetestingwith
VistaUDScanbeaccomplishedsimplyandeasily
withouteveraccessingthecables.Simplyusethe
voltageindicatorsshowninFigure4.Thevoltage
indicatorisevenequippedwithaself-testfunction,

overcurrentcontrol,housedinawatertightenclosure
mountedonthegear.Theovercurrentcontrol
featuresavarietyofTCC(time-currentcharacteristic)
curveswithselectableinstantaneousanddefinite-
timedelayattributes,forsuperiorcoordinationwith
upstreamprotectivedevicesanddownstreamfusing.
TheparametersfortheTCCcurvesaresetusingapersonalcomputerconnectedtothedataportofthe
overcurrentcontrol.Therearenoknobsordials,
sothesettingscannotbeinadvertentlychangedor
alteredbyunauthorizedpersonnel.Integralcurrent
transformersprovidepowerandcurrentsensing.
Thereisevenaneventrecorderthatcaptures
informationonthelasttwelveoperationsofeach
faultinterrupter.
User-supplied personal computer is attached to the overcurrent control for programming the relay in the field.
Coordinating-speed tap curve with definite-timedelay eliminates miscoordination problemsfrequently encountered with transformer fuses.
