FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF MULTIPLE 324C. ALL AP PDG HONOURING

Page 3: Bulletin

Dear Readers,

Today, when environment is being polluted so rigorously,

everyone has only one question on his / her lips and mind that is

how to save environment from being polluted. How to protect

earth from disaster? The strongest way to protect environment

is save trees. Trees are one of the main creations of God that play

an important role to keep air clean. If there will be no fresh air

available then how will human beings, animal, and birds

survive? Therefore, a clean environment is the need for every

living object on this earth. Many big organizations like schools,

colleges, and NGOs like Lions Clubs are taking initiatives to save trees for a better

future, clean air, and unpolluted environment, in short healthy life for living objects.

One of the biggest initiatives to save trees is taken by Idea Cellular Ltd. - a part of Aditya

Birla Group. Today, trees are being cut with a great speed for full filling daily needs of

human beings. It is true that we need to cut trees for our daily needs but cutting trees

in such a furious way is leading towards a disaster. You might have noticed that as the

number of trees is reducing; disasters are being continuously increasing, which is

ultimately leading into high death rate. A big part of the trees is cut to make paper to

help us do our personal and official works. If the use of paper will be minimized then

we can save a large number of trees from being cut, which leads into healthy and clean

environment that is fresh air and healthy life.

Here an initiative taken by LC Hyderabad Cosmo is worth mentioning. Since many

years for now, the club sends all its circulars, program information, invitations etc via

emails or SMSs. This club plants around 1000 plantains on every 15th August.

It is my sincere dream that the schools, colleges and universities would increase online

examinations, submission of theories/papers/reports. But the maximum usage of

unwanted stationary is found in government offices where nothing happens without

penning down on bunch of papers even if it is on how to save trees.

Letters to Editor"dear lion vikrantt,

a lot of innovation and creativity have gone into the volumes of lions update this year.

apart from the routine features, several interesting ones have been incorporated.

as the founder editor and many times past editor of lions update, i know how much work

goes into publishing this kind of a periodical; and what kinds of ordeals editors have to go

through in collecting, compiling, presenting, proofreading and presenting the work. i also

know what kind of persuasive skills and patience are needed to goad clubs and officers to

send data.

you have done all this exceedingly well and have earned a name for yourself.

to improve the quality of the future volumes. more care may be taken with proofreading."

Dear Lion Friends,

Greetings to you and family members.

Its great pleasure to communicate through

Lions Update. First of all I thank each and every

Lion of the District 324 C6 that we are 35% in

positive growth. It is our team work this should

continue in the same rapport in future also.

I request all RC’s, ZC’s, District Officers & PST’s of the clubs to

pay their District and International Dues if not paid and try to

send MMR or WMMR reports regularly, if not sent, send

immediately. And follow District Governor Program, as you

know we have completed our first half of the year and most of

the clubs have not adopted schools, very less clubs came

forward for school adoption. If you have not adopted school try

to see the required Government school which is lacking by

furniture or water Tanks or Toilets. Try to do more service

activities like Blood Donation Camps, Eye Camps, which reach

downtrodden and help the community in better for tomorrow.

Observe calendar of events every month.

I congratulate the clubs who are observing and completed

already District Governor Program.

And I congratulate Lions Update Editor and Editorial Board for

bringing out Lions Update informative to all the Lions.

Let unite our hands together and achieve and help community.

First Vice District Governor

Dear Lions,

I am indeed honoured to have been

blessed with a true LION in each one of the

4361 members in 127 clubs in our District.

I once again whole heartedly welcome

1419 new members.

There cannot be greater joy of success than brining

smiles to as many people as we can. During my journey as

the District Governor began with a call from the victims of

floods that ravaged in and around Kurnool. The

spontaneous response you extended in the form of

financial, pulses and clothes was overwhelming when we

received and heart rendering when we distributed.

There are numerous incidents that I would have shared

with you but I felt it to be more appropriate to place

before you those members that made all the difference

brought smiles on lakhs of faces throughout the District

324C6.

The appointment of Region Chairpersons was one of the

toughest tasks before me. There was lot many questions

cropping up in my mind on my decision. Somewhere in

the corner of my mind, a strong feeling was knocking me

and building up my confidence.

Today, I undoubtedly pat myself on the selection of

Region Chairpersons i.e. S Yadgiri (Sneha), K Samrajyam

(Shanti), Sanjay Choudhary (Sahakar), V Sudhakar

(Sanskar), Manikonda Raghavender Rao (Swarna), Dr P

Surender (Shubham), P V Subba Rao (Seva), G Anand Rao

Maiya (Samatha), Raghu Ram Reddy (Sahithi) and V

Suresh (Sandesh).

I dedicate all the applauses and compliments that I have

received from the Multiple and International leaders

from time to time to all the Lions of 324C6.

Although we have achieved more than what we targeted

for but the fact remains that the spirit of services must go

on unending.

I request all the Lions to buckle up and end up your

Lionistic careers in 2010-11 in un-precedent style.

With happy Ugadi to all in your family and neighborhood,

Dr G Babu Rao

2nd Vice District Governor District Cabinet Secretary

Dear friends,

How delighted I am to have been

associated with the leadership of our

District Governor Dr G Babu Rao and his

cabinet colleagues. It has been an action

filled and service oriented year. Above all,

he has created challenging records which I am sure it

would be an uphill task for any future District Governor.

The conduct of first ever "All AP PDG Honouring" on one

stage was not even in our dreams. It was a great honour to

meet our seniors and listen to them. Playing as a host was

like a cream on the cake.

The countdown for the 5th District Convention has begun

under the Chairmanship of our LCIF Multiple Coordinator

PDG V Basaveswara Rao. The preparation and promotion

is under way. Here again, I am sure that our DG Dr GBR is

all set to give you yet another impressive and action filled

District Convention.

So my dear friends buckle up and make sure to be

registering your family and be a proud delegate to the 5th

District Convention on the 9th and 10th April 2011 at

Naren gardens, Miyapur, Hyderabad.

Until we meet, take care of a needy human around you.

Kallem Penta Reddy

Second Vice District Governor

Dear Lions,

Although we have left with few months of our

term of office, there is still lot more in our kitty

that needs to be accomplished. It has been a

very satisfying journey filled with services that

has not only created records but also set standards and style.

Here I must compliment the efforts of Chief Editor - Lions

Update PRC Vikrantt Mohan for his enormous efforts and skills

in creating greater interest in layout of the District magazine. I

have received several praises for the Lions Update.

We have just concluded a record breaking All AP PDG Honouring

at Hyderabad which took place for the first time in the history of

entire multiple. Such thundering activities further revitalize our

energy to do more.

Since this issue is being released on the 5th District Convention,

I wish all the delegates a very enjoyable and purposeful event.

Enjoy Lionism,

A Panduranga Rao

District Cabinet Secretary

Hyderabad Airport

The airports of Delhi and Hyderabad have been ranked among the top airports of the world in the airport services quality (ASQ) by the

global body, Airports Council International (ACI).

While Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi Airport retained the number one position for the second year in a row among 49 airports handling 5-

15 million passengers per annum (mppa), Indira Gandhi International Airport came fourth in a group of 19 airports in the 25-40 mppa

categories.Mumbai's CST International Airport, run by GVK-led consortium, ranked in the 15-25 mppa categories, the ACI said. While

the Indian airports ranked among the top in different categories, the ACI declared Incheon in Seoul, Changi in Singapore, airports in

Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai Pudong as the overall top ''best airports worldwide''.

The rankings were done on the basis of a global ASQ survey by the ACI of 153 airports, including 6 Indian ones. The survey, which gets a

representative sample of flights, destinations and passenger groups served by the airport, is intended to get feedback from users on a

range of service delivery parameters. ACI audits the process to ensure compliance and validates the results. The awards will be

formally presented in April at the ACI''s Asia-Pacific Regional Conference to be held here.

Nair said the Hyderabad airport has improved on its ASQ rating which now stands at 4.51 and retained the top slot in its category

consecutively for the second year. On the IGI airport, he said the ASQ ratings improved "immensely" after the plush new Terminal-3

became operational last year. To questions, he said a few areas on which the Delhi airport was lacking included value for money,

inadequate shopping facilities and the ease of reaching the airport. "We are looking to improve these areas," Nair said.

Dear Lion Coleagues,

Here are some guidelines for determining

the eligibility of voting delegates from each club in good

standing at the ensuring district, multiple and

international conventions.

1. A club in considered to be in good standing only if

its current per capita, old outstanding balances

and entrance fee of new members are paid in full.

2. Each club in good standing is entitled to one

delegate for each ten members, or a major

portion thereof (5 or more), who have been

enrolled in the club for at least one year and one

day.

3. Each chartered club is entitled to a minimum of

one delegate.

4. A newly chartered club is entitled to one delegate

until it has been chartered for one year and one

day.

5. Number of voting delegates from each club will

be strictly based on the list supplied by the

international office.

6. Delegates of clubs with any unpaid international

and district dues cannot vote until the amount

due is received in full.

7. For any clarifications, read Article IX, Section 3 of

The International Bye Laws.

: Our district has its convention in April 2011.

Suppose a club with 34 members enrolled one more new

member in March 2010 and reported the new member on

its March 2010 membership report recorded at the

international office on April 1, 2010. The club will be

entitled to only two delegates. Although the club had 35

members enrolled at the time of the district convention in

April 2011, the newly enrolled member was not enrolled

for one year and one day in the international records.

Here is a list of the clubs and their status with regard to

their international and district dues as on March 5, 2011.

Please call me for any clarifications.

Though you may not publicly own up to this, at the age of 12-17

years, you were very proud of your first "Bellbottom" or your first

Apache jeans.

Phantom & Mandrake were your only true heroes. The brainy

ones read "Competition Success Review".

Your "Camlin" geometry box & Natraj/Flora pencil was your

prized possession.

The only "Holidays" you took were to go to

your grandparents' or your cousins' houses.

Ice-cream meant only - an orange stick, a

vanilla stick - or a Choco Bar if you were better

off than most.

You gave your neighbour's phone number to

others with a 'c/o' written against it because

you had booked yours only 7 years ago and

were still waiting for your number to come.

Your first family car (and the only one) was a

Fiat or an Ambassador. This often had to be

pushed by the entire family to get going.

Your parents were proud owners of HMT watches. You "earned"

yours after SSC exams.

You have been to "Jumbo Circus"; have held your breath while

the pretty young thing in the glittery skirt did acrobatics, quite

enjoyed the elephants hitting football, the motorcyclist

vrooming in the "Maut ka Gola" and it was politically okay to

laugh your guts out at dwarfs hitting each other's bottoms!

You have atleast once heard "Hawa Mahal" on the radio.

If you had a TV, it was normal to expect the neighborhood to

gather around to watch the Chitrahaar or the Sunday movie. If

you didn't have a TV, you just went to a house that did. It

mattered little if you knew the owners or not.

Sometimes the owners of these TVs got very creative and got a bi

Down memory lane - Middle class India of the 70's

or even a tri-coloured anti-glare screen which they attached with

two side clips onto their Weston TVs. That confused the hell out of

you!

Black & White TVs weren't so bad after all because cricket was

played in whites.

You dreaded the death of any political leader because of the

mourning they would announce on the TV. After all how much

"Shashtriya Sangeet" can a kid take? Salma Sultana also didn't

smile during the mourning.

You knew that "Indira Gandhi" was somebody

really powerful and terribly important. And

that's all you needed to know.

The only "Gadgets" in the house were the TV,

the Fridge and possibly a mixer.

All the gadgets had to be duly covered with a

crochet covers and sometimes even with

ingenious, custom-fit plastic covers.

Movies meant Rajesh Khanna or Amitabh

Bachchan. Before the start of the movie you

always had to watch the obligatory "Newsreel".

You thought you were so rocking because you knew almost all the

songs of Abba and Boney M.

Your hormones went crazy when you heard "Disco Deewane" by

Naziya Hassan & Zoheb Hassan.

Photograph taking was a big thing. You were lucky if your family

owned a camera. A reel of 36 exposures was valuable hence it

justified the half hour preparation & "setting" & the "posing" for

each picture.

Therefore, you have atleast one family picture where everyone is

holding their breath and standing at attention!

You were really happy then...... peace of mind, no pressure no

stress.
