ALL SAINTS SUNDAY NOVEMBER 3, 2013

Prelude “For All the Saints” J. Linker Welcome and Announcements Confession and Forgiveness P: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen P: God of all mercy and consolation, come to the help of your people, turning us from our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that we may confess our sin, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. C: Amen P: You may kneel for confession. Most merciful God, C: I confess that I have sinned in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done and by what I have left undone. I repent of all my sins, known and unknown. I am truly sorry, and I pray for forgiveness. I firmly intend to amend my life, and to seek help in mending what is broken. I ask for strength to turn from sin and to serve you with my whole heart. Amen P: In obedience to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ, I proclaim that your sins are forgiven and you have life everlasting in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen Hymn # 631 “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling” (ELW) (ELW)

Sermon “Blessed are You!” Rev. Christina Veres

Remembrance of the Saints - Time for Prayer Hymn #422 “For All the Saints” (v. 1, 5, 6, & 7 ELW) The Apostles’ Creed - Page 105 I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again, he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen The Prayers of The Church Offering

Offertory “Song of the Saints” P. Choplin Good News Singers Hymn #184 Congregation Offertory “Let The Vineyards” (ELW) Let the vineyards be fruitful, Lord, and fill to the brim our cup of blessing. Gather a harvest from the seeds that were sown, that we may be fed with the bread of life. Gather the hopes and dreams of all; unite them with the prayers we offer. Grace our table with your presence, and give us a foretaste of the feast to come. Sharing of the Peace Postlude “O God, Our Help in Ages Past” G. Young FOR ALL THE SAINTS We are remembering today “All the Saints” of First English who passed away since last All Saints Sunday. We are also remembering those who were not members but who were commended to God’s grace at their death. All of these names will be included in the Remembrance Prayer. SPEAKER SYSTEM for the hearing impaired is available. Please speak to one of the ushers. OUR HYMN BOARDS show the hymn numbers being sung today. They are found in the back portion of the Evangelical Lutheran Worship red book. The front portion of the book containing the liturgies and resources are noted by page numbers at the bottom of each page. We use “Holy Communion,” Setting 4 today beginning on page 147. IN HOLY COMMUNION we believe that Christ is truly present in the bread and wine forgiving our sins. We welcome you to such a table of presence and forgiveness. Martin Luther said: “That person is well prepared and worthy (to receive Communion) who believes these words, ‘given and shed for you for the remission of sins.’ If you cannot drink the wine, it is appropriate to receive just the bread, or just touch the glass of wine to one’s lips, also glasses of white grape juice are placed in the middle of the tray. Younger children are invited to come forward to receive a blessing. PLEASE FILL OUT a visitor or member card found in the pews. Place the nametag on your lapel and the card in the offering plate. We are blessed to have Christian friends from other places and

congregations visiting at worship today.
