PASTOR’S NEWS NOTES Thank you to Paul Puccinelli for gifting our Parish with the moving and creative “Journey to the Cross” last Sunday. This was a most spiritual and fitting opening to Holy Week. Thank you to choir members from St. Rita and other parishes for joining their voices in prayerful harmony. Thank you to Mimi Mycroft for her creative presentation that helped us “walk the journey.” Also thank you to those who worked behind the scenes in so many ways to make this a memorable event.

It is with a heavy but grateful heart that I announce the resignation of our Parish Operations Manager, Tim Lopez. In the past 9 months Tim has accomplished so many things and moved our Parish forward at an astounding rate. I ask you to join me in a profound thank you to Tim, as well as a wish for his success as Director of Administration at Holy Name of Mary Parish in San Dimas. The decision to accept this new position was difficult for Tim, but the advantages of a closer commute and therefore more time to spend with his family was a major factor in Tim’s choice. Tim will be at St. Rita on a part-time basis until April 13 if you would like to take the opportunity to wish him well.

—Msgr. Richard

PASTOR’S CORNER Dear Parishioners and Visitors,

A Joyous and Blessed Easter To you!

He Has Risen As He Said! Alleluia!

My prayer for you in The Holy Eucharist this Easter Season is that the gifts of the RISEN LIFE will be yours in abundance. Those gifts of course are an increase of faith in the One who has risen

triumphant over sin and death; greater hope in Him whose promises to us are made true; and love enough to overcome daily challenges and to greet each morning with the desire to be part of His kingdom. Especially in this era of all types of recovery—personal, ecclesial, and global—faith in Jesus’ promise that every cross will have its resurrection is of the essence. I pray religious tolerance of those who differ from us by way of denomination, religion, or other belief, for every personal journey to the truth of God is sacred. “Jesus died and rose that we might find our way to him and to one another.” May all who encounter us in the days, weeks, and months ahead see in our countenance and deportment the evidence of our abiding confidence in the Lord—the result of our renewed faith! — Msgr. Richard

Let Saint Rita Be There For You . . .

Communion for Sick and Homebound Parishioners St. Rita ministers provide Communion home visits. Contact the Parish office or Jill Muhs, 626.355.9810, [email protected].

If Someone In Your Family Becomes Seriously Ill Please notify us (626.355.1292) as early as possible for the Anointing of the Sick, the sacrament intended for the seriously ill or dying. It is Our Lord’s special presence and companionship in serious time of need. Anointing may take place in the home, at the hospital or elsewhere and as often as once a month. If someone should die without anointing, remember that the desire to receive is sufficient and the Lord cares!

If You Should Experience the Loss of a Loved One Please call us at 626.355.1292

If you feel you will be in need, or your loved one has passed, we will assist in making arrangements with your chosen funeral directors; refer you to our liturgy and music directors; and offer you helpful guidelines and a book that will aid in the selection of readings for the Mass or Memorial Service. Areas we can help you with prior to the passing may help in the planning of funeral services. We know that this can be a tough time and we want you to know that your parish is there for you. PLEASE UNDERSTAND we only have one resident priest, sometimes arrangements for another priest may be needed.
