Wattle 3 Assembly
Well done to Wattle 3 for their very interesting assembly based on “measurement” -
firstly, the early days of measurement where estimations were a very important skill; and
finally a very thorough quiz of both the younger and senior students examining their
knowledge and understanding of measurement. The children had learnt their solo parts
very well and did an extra good job of projecting their voices to the audience. Thank you
Miss Di Fonzo and Miss Lauren Wells, who is with us at Bull Creek from Notre Dame University for all
of Term 3.
Glee Club
Last Wednesday on 6 August our Glee Club performed their song and dance
routines at the Crown Theatre in front of an audience of two thousand people.
Twelve schools did performances and there was a great air of excitement and a
sense of pride by all involved. Our students performed two items - “There’s No
Business Like Show Business” and “The Wild West” - in the second item there was lots of
shooting but fortunately no-one was hurt!!! There was wonderful support by our parent group for our
twenty four performers. Also, of course, Ms Annie Eversden has been very generous with her skill,
energy and time with the after school Glee Club sessions on Tuesdays - Thank you
Ms Eversden.
Kindy Students - Please Enrol Very Soon!
We are very keen to get all Kindy children for 2015 in our local area to enrol as soon
as possible - and preferably by Friday 22 August. We are very keen to enrol little
brothers and sisters of our current students and also neighbours with young children.
Once we reach our limit of 40 students (two groups) we will not be able to accommodate anymore.
Planning for 2015
We have commenced planning for 2015 - we have already received information about
our “one line budget” for 2015. This “one line budget” will be adjusted largely based
on overall student numbers and various other factors. These adjustments will take
place between now and the start of the new school year. We do need to find out as
soon as possible if any of our students will be leaving Bull Creek at the end of this
year. That excludes, of course, our Year 6 and 7 students who will be going to High School for 2015.
Please let our front office know as soon as possible if you will not be at Bull Creek in 2015. Many
thanks.

There’s No Business Like Show Business!
Congratulations to the Bull
Creek Primary School Glee
Club who performed at
Crown Theatre last
Wednesday, 6th August as part
of the WA Government
Schools Music Society
showcase. The Glee Club
consists of 24 children from
years four to seven. They entertained the audience singing
‘There’s no Business like Show Business’ from the Musical
Annie Get Ya Gun. This song is a salute to the glamour and
excitement of a life in show business. The second song The
Glee Club performed was a dance to ‘Wild Wild West’ by
Will Smith from the movie of the same name. Our Cowboys
and Cowgirls danced away to our very own version of a
Buffalo Bill Hoedown.
The Glee Club worked as a team to bring together a very
polished performance on the night. The boys and girls from
Glee were so excited to perform at The Crown Theatre! Thank
you to the parents who came along to watch them perform.
This is an experience they will never forget. Thank you to all
the students in Glee Club for their hard work and their parents
for their ongoing support.
The Glee Club will be doing an encore performance at S6’s
Assembly next Friday 22nd August.

Bull Creek Primary National School Opinion Survey
Australian Education Ministers have determined that all Australian schools will participate in parent, student and staff opinion surveys.
As a consequence, all WA public schools are required to administer parent, student and staff National School Opinion Surveys (NSOS) at least every two years, commencing in 2014.
Schools must also include the findings from the National School Opinion Surveys (NSOS) in their annual school report, commencing with the 2014 report due by the end of Term 1, 2015.
To comply with this initiative we are inviting Bull Creek primary School community members to complete an opinion survey to provide data for our school report for 2015.
The survey is completed on-line and a link to the survey will be provided in the next newsletter and access will also be available through our school website.

Raising Children Network
Children are as individual and as different as their parents and making decisions about what’s best for
raising children is very personal.
The Raising Children website offers up-to-date, research-based material on more than 800 topics
spanning child development, behaviour, health, nutrition and fitness, play and learning, connecting and
communicating, school and education, entertainment and technology, sleep and safety.
It covers grown-ups, newborns (0-3 months), babies (3-12 months), toddlers (1-3 years), preschoolers
(3-5 years), school-age children (5-9 years), pre-teens (9-11 years), and early teens (12-15 years).
There are tips, videos and other useful resources.
The Raising Children Network provides information that can help parents with the day-to-day decisions
of raising children. It also provides information to help parents and carers look after their own needs.
The information is based on the best science in parenting, child health and development, presented in
language we can all understand.
This is a website for Australian mothers, fathers, grandparents and anyone else who has responsibility
for the care of children. www.raisingchildren.com.au
