Building Skills In Mathematics: Our New Math Initiative...
Transcript of Building Skills In Mathematics: Our New Math Initiative...
Research has proven that there is a high correlation between school attendance,
academic performance and student success. A child who is absent from school
regularly, will most likely be unable to keep up with the assignments and
instructional pacing. However, consistent school attendance develops responsible
students and in years to come, responsible adults. Parents play a major role in this
effort and must model the value of education by ensuring their child is not only in
school daily, but also on time. The Student Support Team which is comprised of ten
members: Maria Ortiz, Adjoa Denchi-Smith, Al-Jahthiyah Cannon, Adrienne
Barnes, Joseph Vitale, Diana Gonzalez, Kristen Lara, Kinyetta Bird, April
Anderson-Brown and Officer Stewart work collectively with administration, support
staff, teachers, community partners, parents and students to track and improve school
attendance. Perfect Attendance Jams and Bulletin Board Posts have been created to
encourage our scholars. Remember, Grades Go Down When You’re Not Around!

LMM School Newsletter Nov/Dec 2016
2016
Thanksgiving is part of a broader celebration as it affords unique
opportunities for strengthening unity, comradeship, service and
love. On Tuesday, November 22nd
the LMM School Community
along with our community partners: Pastor Pablo Pizarro (Lead
Pastor of Light House Assembly of God), Jacqueline Quiles
(Newark Deputy Mayor of Community Engagement), ASPIRA
Program, El Merengue’s Restaurant of Newark, SuzyQue’s
Restaurant of West Orange, United Way and Costco sponsored a
generous and heart-felt dinner for 50 families. As a school of
social justice, the culture of helping those in need has been
established since 2014 and is an honor to be able to show that we
care about all members in the local community. That evening
many students enjoyed family time while consuming a delicious
holiday meal. Meeting the demands of the 21st century makes it
challenging for many of our families to sit and eat together. On
this day, we made this happen!
