BUILDING BYELAWSA bye-law is a local law framed by a sub

ordinate authority viz. Municipal corporation,

Town planning department or revenue authorities

on construction & planning of different types of

buildings.

Every city has its own building byelaws for

safety margins, height, floor area ratio, water

supply, drainage & structural design etc.

The above mention authorities sanction the

building plans after scrutinizing them as per the

byelaws.


BUILDING BYELAWSIt is available in form of booklets at office of

concerned authorities.

The regulation set out the basic requirements to be

observed in the of design and construction of

buildings. They are applied to new building and also to

extensions, material alterations, and certain changes of

use of existing buildings.

It is defined as the standards and specification

designed to grant minimum safe guard to the workers

during the construction; to the health and comfort of

the users and to provide enough safety to the public in

general.

Directly connected to the standards of thermal comfort and ventilation.

Guided by natural elements viz. (sunlight and its intensity, direction of the wind, seasons of the year and temperature variations).

Maximum solar radiation in winter and minimum in summer.


Cross - Ventilation Cross ventilation is obtained by having windows in both sides of the room, causing airflow across the space.

Positive pressure on the windward and/or a vacuum on the leeward side of the building causes air movement across the room from the windward to the lee side, provided the windows on both sides of the room are open.


Damp Proof Course Damp proofing is a type of waterproofing applied to building and foundation walls to prevent moisture from passing through the walls into interior spaces.

A DPC is usually a thick plastic strip bedded into the mortar between two courses of bricks or blocks. It can often be seen as a thin plastic line in the mortar near ground level.


Placing of Walls Walls should be placed according to planning and proper orientation of a building.

It depends of various factors of principles of planning of a building.


Projections Projections are provided on external wall openings to get protections from rain, snow and heat.

Roof• It can be defined as a structure which is

enclosing the space and offers protection from natural factors viz. rain, snow, heat, wind etc.
