    Dea iends and colleagues,

2006 was an exciting yea o Net

Impact. While in 2005 we ocused

on laying the oundation o ouoganization ate becoming an

    independent 501c3 nonpot, in 2006

we wee able to take the oganization and

ou pogams to the next level. Ou oveall

membeship gew 17%, with membe atings o Net Impact pogams

and sevices gowing as well. Ou chapte netwok gew, netting 19

new chaptes, including 9 intenational chaptes. We stengthened

ou membe value poposition, with new educational and caee

esouces. We helped to expand ou netwok impact though two

campus change initiatives and laying the oundation o a wokplace

change poject. We added two additional sta membes, six new

Boad membes, and launched an Advisoy Council. And nally, weheld anothe inspiational and sold-out coneence with the Kellogg

School o Management in Chicago, IL.

We also ended the yea on solid nancial ooting, coming in slightly

unde budget while exceeding evenue pojections. We continued

to divesiy ou unding by adding six new copoate sponsos

to ou netwok, doubling ou dollas aised though individual

philanthopy, and adding anothe eaned evenue steam to the

    mix with job posting ees.

In the ollowing epot, we have outlined both majo

accomplishments and whee we will ocus on impoving o 2007.

Ou goal is to pesent an honest evaluation o wok; while poud

o ou successes, we stive to continually gow and impove. We

invite any comments o questions on this epot and ou plans o

    2007 to [email protected].

Additionally, i you would like to speak with someone about

The 2006 Net Impact Coneence, held in Octobe at the Kellogg School o Management and in Chicago, IL,

eatued inspiational keynotes, a dynamic cuiculum, and a Satuday night eception in Chicagos histoic

Union Station. fo the st time, Net Impact oeed a poessionals-only cuiculum, with keynote speakes

and panels designed o and by Net Impact poessionals. The Coneence theme, chosen by student leades

at the Kellogg School, was Navigating Global Change, eecting the Coneences intention to help attendees

navigate thei utue impact on the wold.

Coneence goes told us that the Coneence inspied them to change the wold: this yeas Net Impact

Coneence at Kellogg conmed my esolve to seek out employment in a company whee I can use business

o positive change in the wold upon gaduation. Meeting with like-minded people was an invigoating

expeience that added to my pesonal momentum going owad. - 2nd yea MBA student, Yok Univesity

In planning o the 2006 Coneence, we aced a dicult poblem how to maintain capacity om 2005. The

Kellogg School, selected as the 2006 host beoe ou 2005 Coneence sold out, had excellent but slightly

smalle acilities than ou 2005 host, and we ound ou capacity to be capped at 1,000. We decided to undetake

the dicult task o adding a sepaate venue o poessionals. While many poessionals enjoyed the advanced

cuiculum, othes told us that they missed the student enegy, and many told us that the logistics o venues

in both Evanston and Chicago wee too dicult. Ou choice o venues o the 2007 Coneence in Nashville

eects that eedback, with a moe centalized location and lage capacity.

    HELPED YOU TOMAgnIFY Your

    IMPACt?

Id aleady met a geat goup o people at school, but the 2005 Net Impact

Coneence made me ealize that the movement was a lot lage. Then, it showed me

that thee ae many avenues to go about nding change. I had an amazing caee

coaching session at the 2006 Net Impact Coneence and ealized that consulting

was what I wanted to do. Net Impact is a platom that allows people to ealize what

theye passionate about. Net Impact shows people how to make changes in thei

eveyday jobs, and shows companies that change is possible.

    HOW ArEYOU USING

    BUSINESS TOBetter the

    worLD?

Upon gaduation in Sping o 2007, Diana plans to wok as a Sustainability Business

Consultant at Blu Skye Sustainability Consulting. Says Diana Id love to help maket

leades gain competitive advantage by thinking about thei business model though

an envionmental and social sustainability lens; I want to help them undestand why

thei cuent business models wont be ewaded in the same way in the utue, and

nd innovative solutions to ip it upside down.

    BIo

Diana st became inteested in socially esponsible business while woking at Wal-

Mat in Akansas as a Global Supplie Development Pole. Ate analyzing the

global business o Wal-Mats top supplies and developing stategic and nancial

business plans with top management teams, she had an epiphany. What would

happen i companies in Akansas got it? What i they undestood they could make asocially esponsible and envionmental impact? And what i they could make money

doing it? She bought he thoughts to the CfO o Wal-Mat, Tom Schoewe, the next

week. He loved the idea, and oeed to put he in touch with the CEO egading

a poject to undestand Wal-Mats envionmental impact. While she was able to

make a dieence in this ole, helping Wal-Mat eap the business and envionmental

benets o soucing oganic cotton, she elt with an MBA she could make an even

bigge impact. In 2005, Diana enolled at the Stanod Gaduate School o Business

to lean how to make envionmental and socially-sustainable business models wok

as a holistic measue o copoate stategy.

Net Impact continued one o ou coe pogams, Sevice Cops, in 2006, inspiing almost 200 Net Impact membes

membes helped local nonpots to develop business plans, stengthen thei maketing outeach, and impove

pogam opeations. One example om Philadelphia, PA, is a team o seven o ou membes who woked with

the fiends Neighbohood Guild on a maketing and banding stategy poject. The Guild was thilled with the

poject: it was wondeul to get a esh pespective on ou maketing and banding stategy. The voluntees

a highlight in my MBA education. The poject oeed an oppotunity to apply my expeience and classoom

leaning to a eal wold situation and, at the same time, to eel good about helping a wothy nonpot in my aea.

We also stated a pogam called Boad fellows that gives membes an altenative to the time-intensive, goup

When I st volunteeed with Sevice Cops, most o my poessional clients wee copoate and I was unsue

o how to make the tansition to the nonpot secto. Sevice Cops allowed me to exploe the nonpot wold

and coss that bidge, without having to make a huge nancial investment o time commitment. Sevice

Cops has played an integal ole in helping me achieve my objective o ceating a completely values-based

    business.

Because my expeience as a Sevice Cops voluntee was so eye-opening and meaningul, I wanted to help

povide a simila expeience to othes. Seving as a Sevice Cops City Manage in Los Angeles o the past

two yeas has continued to be an oppotunity o pesonal and poessional gowth. I enjoy doing outeach on

behal o Net Impact. Its given me enty and exposue to a host o pogams going on aound the city, om

univesities to nonpots as well as copoations. Being able to see the incedible wok that so many nonpotoganizations, social entepeneus, and patnes acoss sectos ae doing thoughout the city is exciting to

shae with Sevice Cops voluntees and lean about as a consulting poessional.

Its a lot o un to match up students and poessional chapte membes with oganizations that would

geatly benet om thei skills and expeiences. Sevice Cops is also a netwoking oppotunity as much as

it is a poessional development oppotunity o Net Impact membes. Being able to connect people and
