Engaging Your Board There is no better way to engage your Board of Directors than to ask them how you are doing as an organization! During the COVID-19 pandemic, discussion about carrying on with your fundraising plans can evolve from engaging your Board. Ask your Board members to answer a few questions to get them thinking about why they got involved with your organization in the first place and how they can support your organization in its mission delivery. Especially now, when leadership is needed most. We recommend using an anonymous method of collecting the information such as Survey Monkey so they will feel they can be as honest and candid as possible. Once you have collected the information, look for common responses and themes. Combine the data into a very simple (think bullet points) report and share it with the Board. Explain how you intend to address any issues or requests which have come from the survey – and then actually do those things! Some questions you may want to ask: Why did you become a Board member? What about our mission really motivates and inspires you? If you could change one thing about your experience as a Board member, what would it be? Do you fully understand your role as a Board member? If you could change one thing about our organization, what would it be? Do you feel valued as a Board member? Do you feel empowered as a Board member? Build your expertise through Virtually GLOBAL’sShared Brain™ tip sheets. Learn how to successfully engage your Board.
