Monitoring Mangrove Rehabilitation In Tsunami Affected Area Using High Resolution Satellite Images
Muzailin AffanLab. GIS, Mathematics Department, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, Indonesia , Email: [email protected]
Acknowledgement: Thank to JICA and Fuji Tokoha University, Japan for providing the IKONOS and QuickBird satellite images.
Conclusion:•The study has shown that the mangrove information could be generated from high-spatial resolution imagery like IKONOS and QuickBird. •The rehabilitation of destroyed mangrove has only restored less then 20% of the condition of before tsunami disaster.•The mangrove trees in the study area is needed to be replanted much in a regular periode.

Lessons Learned from Aceh Tsunami Recovery (Case Study: ADRC-IRP-TDMRC)• Livelihood• Shelter• Infrastructure• Governance
Dear respected colleagues,
We were extremely shocked and deeply saddened by the forceful tsunami that devastated areas of Iwate and Miyagi ken, Japan, yesterday.
Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC) and the people of Aceh, Indonesia, would like to express our utmost condolences and sympathy to you and all the people of Japan for the loss of lives and devastation this most recent disaster has caused to the many people in the impacted areas.
While realizing that it is the most difficult time for the people of Japan, we would like to extend our best wishes for a smooth emergency response and relief operation and a successful recovery process that follows.
Sincerely,
