Proactive Software Recommendation - The service evaluates andidentifies the current Software levels ability to meet current and futurerequirements. Service may include:
Obtaining the Customer Software inventory.
Gathering Customer provided Software information, feature/functionality and capability requirements.
Evaluating the installed Software releases and new levels forinteroperability issues and the ability to support current and futurebusiness and technical requirements.
Determine and communicate a Software strategy identifying theappropriate Software releases for the Customer.

Software Versioning Understand how versions are numbered:
Major/Minor Update Service Packs/Patches
Understand how versions decide if a bug fix is integrated in a particular release.
Version Software version in which defect was observed.
To-be-fixed Software versions in which bug fix is targeted.
Verified-Release Software version in which bug fix is tested to be working
Integrated-Releases All software versions in which bug fix in tested to be working.

Assigned (A) DE has been assigned and bug is being investigated.
More (M) Problem described in the bug report is fixed and tested in some but not all versions
TARGETED TO BE FIXED
Resolved (R) Problem described in the bug report is fixed in all release versions TARGETED TO BE FIXED
Verified (V) Fix for the problem is tested. This is the final resting place for all fixed bug reports that are
verified by a test engineer.
Information Required (I) DE has requested for more information regarding the defect.

Unreproducible (U) Problem cannot be reproduced by the evaluating or test engineer.
Junked (J) Bug report is discarded because it does not describe a problem that requires changes
to hardware, software, or documentation.
Closed (C) Bug report is valid, but a conscious decision has been made not to fix it at all or in all
releases.
Waiting (W) Bug represents an authentic hardware, software, or documentation problem that is
worthy of engineering attention, but no one is available to work on it at this time.
Postponed (P) Holding state for bug reports that are not being actively addressed, because the
assigned engineer cannot handle them quickly or the engineering manager has giventhem a lower priority.

1 Catastrophic Fairly common circumstances cause the entire product, system or solution to fail.
