All too predictable back to back losses at Dallas and Montreal have halted the momentum the Sabres had built with three con-secutive OT victories. The Montreal game where Buf-falo fell behind 5-0 showed the Sabres as not ready for prime time players. With 34 games to go, here are the teams mid semes-ter grades. Team Grade C- with 49 points tied with Detroit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and 27th overall out of 30 teams, the Sabres are clearly below average. Player Grades; Kyle Okpo-so B leading scorer plays solid 2-way game. Jack Eichel B- dynamic exciting player, team scores over a goal per game more when he is in the lineup. His de-fensive zone mindset is a mystery. Sam Rhinehart C+ great with the puck not great when opponent has it, effort lacking on line changes. Rasmus Ris-tolainen C+ great skat-er creates and supports attack, heavy hitter, de-fensive play suspect too often. Ryan O’Rielly C+ great 200 foot player ex-cels in all aspects of the game, having bad season and he admits as much. He will improve. But he would be leading scorer if hadn’t missed 10 games.

Evander Kane C+ streaky scorer has been hot lately dominating games with his speed and shot making big trade with Winnipeg look better. Brian Gionta C+ strong season from 38 year old captain with 12 goals. Jake McCabe C+ thundering open ice hits and 10 points, at +2 one of only 2 D-men with plus. Tyler Fedun C+ pleasant surprise at +4 Ukranian Canadien leads D corps in +/-. Matt Moulson C 10 goals 20 points are ac-ceptable but below his pay grade. Marcus Foligno C Ultimate bottom six power forward, leads NHL in hits, will drop gloves to defend teammates honor, would like to see more goals but

gotta love this 2nd genera-tion Sabre. Johan Larsson C injured but on pace for 13 goals - great production from scrappy 3rd line cen-ter. Cody Franson C- hav-ing decent season despite skating limitations. Justin Faulk C- no offense but de-fensive play acceptable. William Carriere D+ has been hot lately, needs and deserves more ice time than 9:03 per game. Zemgus Girgensons D+ decent player miscast here as a 4th liner. Josh Gorg-es D+ past his prime but effective on third pair has been unfairly thrust into top pair minutes too often. A good foot soldier who gives his all. Dmitri Kulikov D- his -8 in 23games projects to team worst -16 over the full 49 games. Zach Bogo-sian D team worst -13 only five points in 29 games. Tyler Ennis D- two goals in 18 games is unaccept-able. Nicolas Deslaurier D- no points in 23 games. Derek Grant F zero goals in 35 games, waived.

IRIS

716-851-5694

This Week’s Featured Friend:

This absolutely beautiful lady of appx. 8 yrs of age is looking for a loving home after she was left behind by her previous owner in an apartment. Adoptable cat Oscar was also surrendered with her. Iris needed a little TLC with her skin and fur, but being in a temporary foster home has helped this lovely girl show off her pretty coat which shines more and more every day. Iris also needed surgery to remove a large mass, and also was treated for an infection when she was spayed. This sweet girl probably had one too many litters of puppies, and wasn’t allowed time to recover. No worries, those days are over and she can start to get herself into shape. The surgery took a toll on this girl, but she is now recovering nicely and getting the rest and medication she needs to fully heal. She is sweet, loving, looking for attention and just en-joys lounging around. She does well on the walks she takes, and does enjoy her crate. Iris is housebroken and would love nothing more to hang out on a couch and snuggle away. In fact, she has no problem exposing her belly for much needed belly rubs. She appears fine with the resident cats at her temporary foster home, and although she hasn’t interacted too much with the dogs (due to her healing), she presents no issues when she is in her crate and they are out and about. Please consider opening your heart and home to Iris and give her a chance to enjoy her older years. If you have any questoins about Iris, please email at [email protected]. Iris is sponsored by Pound Hounds & Friends and she will come with a reduced adoption fee. Honestly, how can you not just fall in love with her.

PRAYER TO ST. JUDE Most holy apostle St. Jude Thaddeus faith-ful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master in to the hands of the enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases and of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so needy; make use, I implore you of that particular privilege accorded to you to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings particularly (here mention your petition) ... and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O blessed Jude to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.
