HISTORY

Bueng Kum was separated from Bang Kapi on 4 September 1989 consisting of 3 sub-districts: Khlong Kum, Khan Na Yao, and Saphan Sung. On 14 October 1997, Khan Na Yao and Saphan Sung's were elevated to districts, leaving Bueng Kum with sole sub-district: Khlong Kum.

Bueng Kum was named so because of a lake (Bueng means lake) used as water reservoir for flood prevention. There are also plants called Kum around the lake. The lake is part of Seri Thai Park.

1. Khlong Kum 2. Nawamin 3. Nuan Chan

Total area is 24.311 km2

VISION

Buengkum District is the resident that has the best environment of Bangkok east side.

FUNCTION1. Administrative Office Division

▪ Has the following authority : ruling , administrative registration.

2. The Registration Division

▪ Is responsible for providing registration work including the reports for population records.

3. Public Work Division▪ Is responsible for construction , repairing and improvement of roads, public sidewalks and road surface , public facilities ; maintenance of public apace , ditches , canals , water drainage.

FUNCTION4. Environment and Sanitation Division

▪ Is responsible for food sanitation and environmental sanitation.5. Revenue Division

▪ Is responsible for income operations.

6. Cleanliness and Park Division

▪ Has the authority to keep clean and tidiness; tree planting and caring.

7. Education Division

▪ Has the authority on policy promotion; supporting and coordination of school; provision of education in line with policies and national education standards.

FUNCTION8. Financial Division

▪ Is responsible for budgeting, accounting and procurement of stock materials disbursing from budget of BMA, government subsidy fund, off-budget funds and any other funds.

9. The Municipal Official Division▪ Is responsible for enforcing compliance with the provision of BMA;

supervision and taking care of orderliness of the city, promote safety of life and property of the people; support and enhancing protection and mitigation of public hazards; general legal work; lawsuit related work and coordination with the police in connection with the case, and other related or assigned tasks.

10. Division of community Development and Social Welfare • Is responsible for the implementation of community

development, on the physical, economic, health and quality of life.

Bankampu Tropical Café is a refreshment corner located within the Bankampu Tropical Gallery situated in the Bung Kum district of Bangkok on Yotin Pattana Road. This cafe provides brewed coffee, beverages and tasty light dishes such as cakes, salads and sandwiches. This place provides event space rental services for weddings, seminars, parties and gatherings. It has many houses that can hold 80 to 200 guests. It has a pool and tropical gardens with rain trees and tropical plants.

Bungsamran Fishing Park is one of the largest in Thailand with an area of 98000 square metres and an average depth of 4 to 10m. It is filled with more than 50 kinds of both carnivorous and herbivorous game fish.

Apart from the fishing pond, Bungsamran has a restaurant, which serves both Thai and seafood. Bungsamran also has a fishing tackle store, which is fully stocked with well known brands such as Shimano and Daiwa for overseas visitors.

Santi Asoke is a Buddhist centre in Bangkok where Buddhist monks, nuns, novices and lay people holding a particular set of beliefs gather.
