PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: Tonya Albarado, Katy, TX I am completing my term as BueLingo President, and would like to share that it has been an honor and great opportunity to serve on the BueLingo Board and as your President. I appreciate all the guidance and contribution received from the other Board Members and visiting with our General Membership along the way. We have done some exciting things, which I hope will continue to serve the BueLingo Society in the years to come, but as always there are items left to do and areas to continue to build upon. I believe we are blessed to be raising one of the best cattle breeds out there, and I hope to continue to help promote our “belted beauties” in the coming years. I know that the Society could use your help and input, so I encourage all Members to think about how they might be able to contribute. Reach out to one of the Board Members and get engaged where you can, I promise you will not only be helping improve our breed and Society, but you will meet some great folks along the way! Hope everyone continues to stay safe thru this Covid journey, and if you get down to south Texas and the Houston area, please let us know! PMT TESTING!

The Society has signed another contract to continue PMT testing through UC DAVIS. We will maintain the benefits of aformal agreement without being bound to a test minimum concurrence. All testing will still be done through the Society office, sowe may verify and validate the results within our PMT database.

Cost has gone up to $30.00 per test. This covers the cost of the test itself, collection cards, as well as the postage and handlingfees. UC Davis has been returning test results within 5-10 days.

Our ultimate goal was to make PMT testing obsolete by eradicating PMT from the BueLingo breed. The majority of ourbreeders have tested their entire herd and have eliminated or manage their PMT CARRIERS. Some dams/sires/offspring have notbeen tested and an animal may be registered as PMT NOT TESTED. With UC DAVIS efficiently testing for PMT we can haveresults back in your hands in a timely manner to help maintain and manage PMT within your herd. Contact the office for more in-formation:

This was Abby's second year showing in thePeewee Bucket Bottle Calf show at the Iowa CountyFair. Abby named her calf Starlight, who is a homeraised commercial heifer. Abby spent many monthsand days feeding, walking, washing, and working withher calf. Abby was so proud to take her calf in the ringand did an excellent job showing her. They made agreat team. One component of the show is an interviewprocess that took place with a live microphone, onenever knows what they might say, but she was quick toanswer as she knew everything about Starlight. One ofthe questions the Judge asked was "What are your plansfor your calf after the fair?" She was quick to respondwith "She's going back to Grandpa’s house to be acow." Abby received a participation trophy and ribbon.Abby also exhibited a barn quilt in the Home Improve-ment class in the Clover Buds division receiving a par-ticipation ribbon for her excellent project.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ NOTIFICATIONS

The Board met via phone conference July 22, 2020 to officially waive the General Membership meeting of 2020.

Dean moved to postpone the 2020 Convention/General Membership meeting because of Covid 19 and all the extenuatingcircumstances surrounding the issue until a time when it would be more safe and prudent to do so. Terry 2nd: All in favor.

A lot of discussion went into the decision and all are saddened that we couldn’t meet face to face and enjoy BueLingo friends andfellowship, along with promoting the BueLingo Breed of Cattle. Hopefully our nation will turn around for the better soon and thesetypes of decisions won’t have to be made.

But, in the meantime: Business went on as usual. Ballots were read for the new directors of 2020-2021. Sean and Terry were re-elected to a 2nd term and Kenneth Hart of Elk City, OK will begin his 1st - 3 year term. Thank you to Tonya for serving on theBoard these past 6 years with the last 2 years serving as the President of the Board of Directors. She’s brought and executed somegreat additions to our Society.

Even though our membership numbers are being maintained, Registration numbers have been cut almost in half. We registered 159compared to 300 average over the past few years. So the Board has decided to run a promotion. A motion was made to offer Regis-tration of over 15 months of age at a cost of $15.00 each to be offered until December 31, 2020.

HARVEY’S HIDEOUT!

Hi from the hideout. It’s that time of the year again where the haymaking is finished, silage chopped, time to work cattle and gettingready for the great anticipated corn and bean harvest.

It’s great living on the farm where we can set aside the bad distractions; politics, bad weather, pandemics and whatever else ails you,and go out and look at our year’s accomplishments.

It’s been a challenging year to say the least, but the BueLingo look great and that means a lot to me.

Have a great fall and don’t forget to vote.

Sincerely from the Hideout, Harvey Blair

Evan Koehn was a 4th grade student at English Valleys Elementary andis a member of the Crossroads 4-H Club. This was Evan's first year as afull 4-H member, having been a Clover Bud member for 3 years. Evanshowed in the Homeraised Market Steer class and the Senior YearlingPurchased Commercial Heifer Class. In the Senior Yearling PurchasedCommercial Heifer class, Evan showed his Heifer named Apple. Applewas purchased from Harvey and Susan Blair in November 2019. BeingEvan's first time in the show ring with the big calves was a little intimi-dating. At the start of the show, Apple was nervous, but Evan quicklystood his ground and walked her into the ring. He became more confidentas the class went on. He did an excellent job talking to the judge and re-ceived a blue ribbon with his heifer. Evan is planning on showing Appleas a Cow-Calf Pair next year. He was able to pre-check her at the vet andis excited that she is going to have a calf in the spring.

Evan then showed his Homeraised Commercial Market Steer, Charles.Charles was a bottle calf that Evan showed in the Peewee Calf show theprevious year. Charles was Evan's favorite calf and he was very proud totake him in the ring. They made a great team. Evan received a blueribbon for his steer and placed 3rd overall in the rate of gain class with again of 3.80 lbs/day. Evan had an emotional few days as we all saidgoodbye to Charles. Evan also exhibited a card holder in the Woodwork-ing class and received a blue ribbon.

DEAN’S DEN!

Does anyone else wonder where summer went? The weather sure was different this year compared to 2019. We finishedchopping corn and filling silos on September 7, 2020. In 2019, we had lots of rain and flooding. We didn't’ start chopping corn orfilling silos till October 7th.

We cut some 4th crop hay last weekend. Corn fields are really drying, and some farmers have started to combine corn. Westarted to wean some of our BueLingo calves this week. Hope we can get a fair price when we sell them.

Hope that everyone has a bountiful harvest of crops and livestock! Have a Happy and Safe Fall.

Belted (masked) Regards,Dean Monson
