Mary didn't do well in the shelter environment, so she needed rescue.
A wonderful family wanted to adopt Mary, but Buddy Up was not yet insured to set up adoptions.
We buddied up with Bully Underground Rescue Network to officially adopt Mary out, and she made it home for Christmas.

Lambeau arrived at a local shelter from the south, where he had been in a shelter for 3 years.
He was deemed unadoptable because he had food-guarding issues.
We buddied up with Camp Bow Wow who fostered Lambeau and helped him with his issues until we found his forever home.

Cookie's health and happiness today is a direct result of many caring people buddying up to save her life.
Androscoggin Veterinary Hospital, The Dog Rehabilitation Center of Maine, and trainer Stephanie O'Hanlon all stepped up to help this dog have a chance at a good life.
Cookie is in foster care with Stephanie and up for adoption through Buddy Up.

I need a
special home,
but I’m worth it!
Eggroll was surrendered to a local shelter over four months ago, where his grumpiness with other animals kept him from the adoption floor.
Buddy Up sent him home last week to a family who knows and loves the perks and quirks of Shar Peis and who has no other animals.
A perfect home is out there for everyone.

Mr. Fonda landed in a shelter as a senior dog with medical issues.
He deserved more love and comfort than that, so we buddied up with The German Short-Haired Pointer Rescue of New England to find a great home to live out his golden years as a long-term foster.

Leo was surrendered to a local shelter because he was too much work for the family who took him on as a young pup.
We buddied up with Camp Bow Wow to give Leo a place to stay until we could find the right family for him.
He was adopted by a family consisting of three generations of woman who have fallen in love with this amazing dog.

He is looking for a permanent or foster home to help him break out of his shell.

We buddied up with Dogs Deserve Better to place Curley in a loving foster home, which turned into his forever home.

Abby was kept in a horse trailer 24/7 to eat, sleep and take care of all of her needs.
When neighbors reached out to help, she was taken to the shelter, but needed to be adopted through rescue.
A wonderful couple adopted her from Buddy Up, and she now has the love, kindness, and respect she deserves.

Missy was one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet, but a neurological disorder kept her from the shelter’s adoption floor.
A Buddy Up board member took Missy under her wing and found this girl a wonderfully nurturing home.
Sadly, Missy passed away a few months later from a grave illness, but not before she got to experience unconditional and true love for exactly who she was.
Missy

Dogs are so good at showing gratitude.
This grouchy old man in the shelter turned into such a sweet boy once he got out.
We are so grateful to adopters who give senior dogs a wonderful retirement home.

Volunteers like Cathy Paquette and Sally Bechtle got Sammy through this difficult time.
Sally ended up adopting Sammy, and he gets all the love and support he needs to be a happy dog.

Honey was a long-term shelter resident who did not do well with the other animals.
The Dog Rehabilitation Center of Maine took Honey in, and taught her how to enjoy life among other dogs and cats.
She's thriving at DRCM, and now she even teaches other dogs how to behave well.

Buddying Up with Trainer Sergei Bachkovsky of The Dog Rehabilitation Center of Maine to find out how Doodlebug can be with other dogs.
In the shelter, Doodlebug reacted badly to other dogs, but with help from the right person in a non-shelter environment, he did great!
Beau Buddy Rescue worked with us to adopt Doodlebug out to a wonderful woman from Martha's Vineyard.

Quinn was adopted and returned to the shelter several times. She has some vision and hearing loss, and needed a little extra time and patience to adjust to home life.
Quinn finally found a home with someone who really appreciates who she is and was willing to give her the time she needed to settle in and calm down.

This super sweet boy is a tough one to keep in the shelter — he has separation anxiety and doesn’t get along with other dogs.
After he escaped in the middle of the night to find his comfort zone, Beau Buddy Rescue helped us adopt Bubba out to the one in-a-million person who could give him all he needed.

This energetic southern boy spent many months in the care of Coastal Humane Society, but he just couldn’t calm down enough to make the adoption floor there.
Charley's Strays, a small sanctuary in Clinton, Maine, buddied up with us to give him more time to find the right home.

Mateo is such a love, even though he came from a life of neglect and abuse.
He has settled in with a terrific foster family who is helping him get through heartworm treatment.
Once he has a clean bill of health, he’ll be ready to find his forever home.
