Traditional method Find 30% of 800 30 x 800 100 = 240 Another method Find 30% of 800 100% = 800 (÷ both by 10) 10% = 80 (x both by 2) 20% = 160 Therefore 30% = 80 + 160 = 240

1 Start at bubble A and enter a value 2 Work your way around the 

bubbles following the arrows and enter the values 

Note:   

The ÷ 10 calculations are horizontal and 

the ÷ 2 calculations are vertical.  

Traditional method 

Find 30% of 800 

 30  x 800 

100 

= 240 

Another method 

Find 30% of 800 

100% = 800 (÷ both by 10) 

 10%  = 80   (x both by 2)    

 20%  = 160 

Therefore 30% = 80 + 160 

= 240
