Placements WHAT IS IT? § It is way of gaining a competitive edge over other graduates when
applying for jobs
§ More than a third of jobs for new graduates are being taken by people who have already had work experience with that employer
§ For undergraduate courses, many of the work placements are for a full academic year (40 weeks), taken usually during the third year of the course

Work placement at BU
Placements
Ø Placements start early in programmes and are carefully organised with placement providers so that students gain a wide range of practice experience, whilst being fully supported.
Ø We have a network of support for students so that academic learning is integrated with practice education.
Ø All student learning on placement is intended to positively influence the quality of student practice, which is the purpose of the programmes.
Ø The placement programme ensures that students are adequately prepared for professional work that is that they are fit for practice.

Entry requirements
Postgraduate: • Qualification equivalent to a UK Honours degree (2:1 or above, 2:2 for MA
Public Health)
• A relevant first degree or evidence of development at degree level. Experience of public health working or similar work in a closely related field is normally required.
Undergraduate: • Qualifications equivalent to A-levels
• IB Diploma 28 – 34 points
* An interview might be required for some courses.
English requirement: • IELTS (Academic) 6.0 (with minimum 5.5 in each of the 4 components)
- IELTS (Academic) 7.0 (with minimum 6.5 in each of the 4 components)
