“TRANSFORMATION OF CHILDREN IN SHEPHERD CENTRE, SEMENYIH” YEAR 2008

A pilot project was carried out at Shepherd Centre in Semenyih where the place was equipped with old computers but the youth were not familiar with them. The Administrator was not confident with their children that they are able to be responsible and deliver big task.

The youth proposed to organize an open day in their home to raise funds and awareness but it was rejected by their home’s admin however a cleaning up the library project was being suggested. The library was cleaned, they rearranged the furniture and books accordingly and painted the wall with murals after some discussion and planning while being coached and motivated. There was an obvious change that they have more positive thinking and believed they could create possibilities too. The administrators were shocked by their achievement and promised to entrust the youth with more responsibility and choices in the future. The youth and volunteers have formed close bonding. The library has became a symbol of self-belief and trust in the orphanage home that everything is possible.
