    At Breville we are very safety conscious. We design and manufacture consumer products withthe safety of you, our valued customer, foremost in mind. In addition we ask that you exercise

    a degree of care when using any electrical appliance and adhere to the following precautions.

    READ ALL INSTRUCTIONSBEFORE USE AND SAVE FORFUTURE REFERENCE

    Remove and safely discard anypackaging material or promotionallabels before using the toaster for thefirst time.

    To eliminate a choking hazard for youngchildren, remove and safely discard theprotective cover fitted to the power plugof this appliance

    Do not place the toaster near the edgeof a table, counter or bench top duringoperation. Ensure the surface is level,clean and free of water.

    Do not place the toaster on or near a hotgas or electric burner, or where it couldtouch a heated oven.

    Keep appliance clear of walls and otherheat sensitive materials such as clothsand curtains.

    Do not use the toaster on sink drainboard.

    Always ensure the toaster is properlyassembled before use. Follow theinstructions provided in this book.

    Ensure that bread to be toasted is the

    correct size for the toaster and doesnot protrude above the bread sliceopening. Ensure the bread is not toothick or long that it will jam or wedgethe bread carriage.

    Never cover the toaster whilst it isplugged into the power outlet orwhile hot.

    Do not place toast directly on top oftoasting slots to warm toast as thismay prevent correct air circulation anddamage the appliance.

    Do not move the toaster whilst inoperation or when hot.

    Do not touch hot surfaces. Use side areasfor lifting and carrying the appliance.

    Do not leave the toaster unattendedwhen toasting.

    Always turn the power off at the poweroutlet and then remove the powerplug from the power outlet beforeattempting to move the appliance, whenthe appliance is not in use and beforecleaning or storing.

    Do not allow bread crumbs toaccumulate in the bottom of the toaster.Failure to clean the crumb tray regularlymay result in a fire hazard.

    Do not clean with metal scouring pads.Pieces can break off the pad and touchelectrical parts creating an electricshock hazard.

    Keep the appliance clean. Followthe cleaning instructions provided inthis book.

    Unwind the power cord fully before use.

    Do not let the power cord hang overthe edge of a table counter, touch hotsurfaces or become knotted.

    OPERATING YOUR BREVILLE THE BIT MORE

    Before first use, remove any packagingmaterial or promotional labels attached to

    your toaster.

    1. Insert the power plug into a230/240 volt power outlet andthen turn the power on.

    NOTE

    When using the toaster for the firsttime, we suggest toasting on themaximum setting without bread.The toaster may emit a thin smoke

    or distinct odour on initial use. Thisis normal and not detrimental to theperformance of the toaster.

    2. For the The Bit More2 slice placeonly 1 slice of bread or crumpet or halfan English muffin or bagel into eachof the toasting slots. Ensure the breadhalves are not too large or thick to fit theslots. If less than 2 slices are inserted,the usual browning setting needs to bereduced to avoid the toast burning.

    For the The Bit More4 slice place2 slices of bread or crumpets or2 halves of an English muffin or bagelinto each of the toasting slots. Ensurethe bread halves are not too large orthick to fit the slots. If less than 2 slicesare inserted, the usual browning settingneeds to be reduced to avoid the toastburning.

    3. Select the desired browning setting usingthe browning control dial. Colour settingsrange from 1 lightest to 6 darkest.

    NOTE

    When using the toaster for the firsttime, we suggest toasting the bread onsetting 3 or 4.

    Varying types of bread and personalpreference may require a differentbrowning setting, for example, raisintoast and white light-textured breadsmay require a lower setting, whilstheavier textured rye breads mayrequire a darker setting.

    4. Press the high lift lever down until itlocks into position. The toasting cyclewill automatically commence.

    NOTE

    If the toaster is not plugged inand switched on at the poweroutlet, the high lift lever will notlock into position.

    5. The toaster stops toasting when ithas reached the end of the selectedbrowning setting. The toast willautomatically rise from the slots. Thetoasting process can be stopped at anytime by pressing the CANCEL button.

    WARNING

    Do not leave unattended when in useas toast may jam or wedge in the breadcarriage. Never attempt to extracttoast, crumpets or muffins or any otheritem that has jammed or wedged in thetoaster with a knife or any other object,as contact with live elements may notonly damage the elements, but cancause electrocution.

    LIFT & LOOKFEATURE

    This feature can be used to check on theprogress of the toasting cycle withoutinterrupting it. Simply raise the high liftlever to check on the browning progress ofthe toast and lower it down again if you wishto continue to toast.

    HIGH LIFT LEVER

    To remove smaller items such as crumpetsand muffins, lift the high lift leverapproximately 2cm above the starting

    position. In the unlikely event that the bread,crumpet or muffins become jammed, switchthe power off at the power outlet. Removethe power plug from the power outlet andthen use the high lift lever to carefully easethe bread out of the toaster, ensuring thatyou do not damage the self-centring slots orthe elements.

    DEFROST SETTING

    Toasting Frozen Bread

    To toast frozen bread, place the bread intothe toasting slots, select the browningsetting you would normally select if thebread was fresh, lower the high lift leveruntil it locks into position and then pressthe defrost button. Pressing the defrostbutton will automatically extend cookingtime of your selection.

    A BIT MORESETTING

    For Extra Toasting

    This feature can be selected after or duringthe toasting cycle.

    To use this feature during the toasting cycle,press the A Bit Morebutton during thetoasting cycle if your bread requires extratoasting in addition to the browning settingyou initially selected.

    You can also use this feature after thetoasting cycle if your toast requires

    a bit more toasting. Once the toast haspopped up after the initial toasting selectionhas completed, lower the lever back downand then press the A Bit Morebutton.

    NOTE

    The A Bit Moresetting will addapproximately 30 seconds toastingtime to your selected browningsetting.

    NOTE

    The A Bit Moresetting can be usedwith either the toast or defrost setting.

    CANCEL BUTTONTo Stop Toasting

    The toasting and defrosting cycles can

    be cancelled at any time by pressing thecancel button. The toaster will turn off andautomatically raise the toast.

    CARE AND CLEANING

    1. Switch the toaster off at the power outletand then remove the power plug fromthe power outlet. Allow the toaster tocool completely before cleaning.

    2. To clean any crumbs from the toaster,remove the crumb tray (located under thecontrol panel at the front of the toaster)by pulling it outwards. Empty and replacethe crumb tray before using the toasteragain. Replace the crumb tray by slidingit inwards until it locks into position.

    3. To remove any additional crumbs, turnthe toaster upside down over a bin andshake crumbs free.

    4. Wipe the outside of the toaster witha slightly dampened soft cloth andthen dry it with a soft dry cloth to drycompletely.

    NOTE

    Do not clean with metal scouringpads. Pieces can break off the padand touch electrical parts creating anelectric shock hazard.

    STORAGE

    Switch toaster off at the power outlet andremove the power plug from the poweroutlet. Allow the toaster to cool completelybefore storing. Follow the directions forcleaning and store in an upright positionon a flat surface on a bench top or in anaccessible cupboard.

    Do not store anything on top of the toaster.

    WARNING

    Do not use the toaster without theslide-out crumb tray in position.Do not allow crumbs to build up inthe crumb tray. Failure to clean thecrumb tray regularly may result ina fire hazard.
