The British School of Guangzhou is holding its first ever Summer School in 2016. A range of academic, sporting, and social activities will be held over 3 weeks from 18thJuly – 5th August during the school’s summer holidays. BSG teachers and sta� will run these specially designed courses, all delivered in English, for children aged 4-12.

Each week will be based around a project theme, and children can attend for 1, 2, or 3 weeks. The project will incorporate English (EAL or native/advanced), science, humanities, arts and drama, where teachers lead children in group and individual work to learn, create and produce in a fun yet challenging and educational way. There is also a major focus on sport and exercise, with daily swimming, outdoor and indoor activities, as well as music and organised excursions to local sites of interest.

PROJECT PROGRAMMES

• Week 1 ‘Heroes’; Week 2 ‘Dinosaurs’; Week 3 ‘The Environment’ (subject to change)

• English reading, listening & writing skills (EAL/Advanced)

• The science, history, and geography of the topic

• Art (drawing, posters, creative arts), music (singing and performing) and drama (presentation skills and poetry/performance)

SPORTS AND EXERCISE PROGRAMMES

• Swimming

• Outdoor sports (football, athletics, basketball, table tennis, and more)

• Indoor sports (games & fitness)

TRIPS, ACTIVITIES AND PERFORMANCES

• Organised trips to local sites of interest

• Group games and competitions

• Art, music, drama performances and displays
