PHILOSPHY OF NURSING

Health is a state of well-being that enables a person to lead a psychologically, socially and

economically productive life. Health is a right of all the people. Individuals, Families and

communities have responsibility towards maintaining their health.

The nursing profession is a noble one. It is not only taking care of the patient as an individual,

but as a member of the family and society. The humanitarian aspects of the patient such as his

hopes, aspirations, worries, anxieties, apprehensions and tensions due to disease process are

also to be looked into with great patience which plays a vital role for the amelioration of the

condition of the patient. To become a good nurse all these qualities are to be developed during

the training course.

Nursing contributes to the health services in vital and significant way in the health care delivery

system. It recognizes national health goals and is committed to participate in the

implementation of National Health policies and programmes. It aims at identifying health

needs of the people, planning and providing quality care in collaboration with other health

professionals and community groups.

Scope of nursing practice encompasses provision of promotive, preventive, curative and

rehabilitative aspects of care to people across their life span in wide variety of health care

settings. Practice of nursing is based upon application of basic concepts and principles derived

from the physical, biological, and behavioural sciences, medicine and nursing.

Nursing is based on values of caring and aims to help individuals to attain independence in self

care. It necessitates development of compassion and understanding of human behaviour among

its practitioners to provide care with respect, dignity and protect the rights of individuals &

groups.

Undergraduate nursing programme is broad based education within an academic framework

specifically directed to the development of critical thinking skills, competencies & standards

required for practice of professional nursing and midwifery as envisaged in National Health

Policy 2016.

Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation ( SSCF ) is founded by Trustees with rich experience in

specific development activities of different fields of society.

Dr. B.S. Srinath, MBBS, MS, FRCS (Edinburgh & Glasgow). A reputed surgical oncologist

with over 35 years of service to cancer patients. Has conducted research on cancer and

immunology. Has an eminent stature in the field of cancer treatment. Has distinguished

managerial experience as well of building and managing a large and successful hospital in the

related field. Has served as the Managing Director of Bangalore Institute of Oncology, a

leading institution, for 11 years during 1992-2003. Has conducted many cancer detection and

awareness programs during the last 20 years and has taken the medical expertise right up to the

patient's door with a major concern for the poor.

Dr. H.S. Nagaraja, M.Sc., Ph.D. A renowned educationist, he is the Founder-Director of

BASE, an 18 year student training institution with over 150 faculty members and is focused on

enabling superior level achievement among the brightest students.

Spearheads the activities of “Annapurna”, an NGO, which feeds 2.5 lakh school children every

Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation (SSCF), a not-for-profit organization, was founded 6

years ago with the core purpose of providing comprehensive cancer treatment to all

cancer patients particularly the poor. Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research

Centre (SSCHRC), the brainchild of SSCF, commenced its operation of delivering

contemporary treatment for cancer on August 15, 2012. SSCHRC is a 360-bedded

hospital built over 6 Floors spread over an area of 2.5 lakh sq. ft. (Two lakh fifty

thousand sq. ft.).

The Sri Shankara College of Nursing is part of the SSCF Trust which aims at bringing

Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre has established the following Vision,

Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre is committed to assure health services to

all patients with quality, accuracy, safety and courtesy while maintaining the highest

standards of professionalism and customer satisfaction.

SSCHRC is an exclusive cancer hospital providing comprehensive treatment to all cancer

patients. I It has about 300 beds, 8 operation theatres, 50 ICU beds, two linear accelerators,

brachytherapy unit and a 32-bedded day care centre.

Facilities include Pain and Palliative Care Department, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy with

subsidized costs for medicines, well-equipped modern Diet Kitchen, Ambulance Services,

Domiciliary Care Services (home care team visiting the patient at home), Mortuary and

Bereavement Services.

Well-equipped Departments of Radiotherapy with 2 state-of-the-art linear accelerators,

Radiodiagnosis and Interventional Radiology with big bore CT, digital MRI and diagnostic and

therapeutic ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Blood Transfusion and Laboratory Facilities

including anatomical pathology and microbiology sections with fully automated equipment are

all operational and aiding in quick diagnosis. 128 slice PET CT will be inducted into service in

2 months’ time. Departments of Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, and Radiation

Oncology led by eminent doctors are delivering expert treatment. , Rehabilitation and Speech

Therapy, , Meditation and Holistic Services Unit, and Psycho-Oncology Unit helps in

delivering wholesome treatment to the patients.

Department of Clinical Psychology, Medical Genetics, Molecular and Genetic Laboratory,

Blood Component Services help in providing latest and in depth treatment.

Patient and their care providers are encouraged to seek more information in these areas from

our medical social workers.

A team of volunteers offer help and guidance to all the patients (please check with our help

Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation has undertaken this sacred task though generous donations

from large hearted individual donors, Government of Karnataka and Central Government

organizations. Many corporate bodies and overseas donors have contributed in support of

cancer patients

The hospital provides expertise in all super-specialities of cancer, has 42 highly qualified and

dedicated doctor consultants. SSCHRC has so far treated 21000 new cancer patients and has

consistently tried to fulfil its main objectives of providing treatment at affordable costs

including free treatment to the poor cancer patients.

Irrespective of cast, creed, religion socioeconomic status .Besides the hospital is working

seriously towards bringing down the number of cancer patients in the society by prevention

early detection awareness and rural focus .It has adopted a district close to Bangalore and has

already conducted a detailed household survey of more than 70 thousand people from 4 taluks

and identified several cancer cases which were referred to the hospital for surgery and follow

up treatment . All the villages covered were given preventive health measures and how to

modify their life style and improve their health status. The follow up will be for a period of 30

years.

HIGHLIGHTS OF SSCHRC

This not-for-profit institution will cater to all the segments of the society irrespective of caste,

creed, religion and economic status and provide equal access and care to the most indigent and

poor patients as well as the rich.

SSCHRC has been constructed and equipped through gracious donations from the large-

hearted philanthropists, institutions, corporate entities, and large number of individual donors

31 beds of the 150 general ward beds are totally free for the really poor and needy. To our

knowledge, no other private cancer hospital offers this service. The estimated cost of the

treatment for this segment alone is Rs. 3.5 crores/year.

The medicines to the cancer patients are highly subsidized for economically poorer patients;

the pharmacy will provide 30% (approx) subsidy on all medications – a great help for cancer

patients

Dormitory facility, adjacent to the patient wards, is provided to the caretakers of the patient so

as to reduce their expenses

AIM :

Aim of the Undergraduate Nursing Programme is to :

Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives

in providing promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services.

Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights

and facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community

nursing services, and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also

expected to assume the role of teacher supervisor and manager in a clinical / public health

setting.

Objectives :

On completion of the four year B.Sc. Nursing program the graduate will be able to:

1. Apply knowledge from physical, biological, and behavioural sciences, medicine

including alternative systems and providing nursing care to individuals, families and

communities.

2. Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors, which affect health of

individuals and groups.

3. Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the

individuals and groups.

4. Demonstrate critical thinking skill in making decisions in all situations in all situations

in order to provide quality care.

5. Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.

6. Provide promotive, preventive, and restorative health services in line with the national

health policies and programmes.

7. Practice within the framework of code of ethics and professional conduct, and

acceptable standards of practice within the legal boundaries.

8. Communicate effectively with individuals and groups, and members of the health team

in order to promote effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork.

In pursuance of the said philosophy, the aims and objectives of the College are to empower

young women that predominantly opt for nursing as a career as well as provide

opportunities for the students to acquire and develop:

(i) A sound theoretical and practical knowledge of Nursing care at basic as well as

advanced levels, contributing to the promotion, preventive and restorative aspects of

health.

(ii) The ability to plan and act independently with full responsibilities as a qualified Nurse

and as a spiritual human being.

(iii) The confidence for taking up leadership position to assume responsibilities in nursing

and to do pioneering work while taking care of one's own responsibility and

professional growth too.

(iv) The skill to maintain a centre of excellence for the pursuit of higher studies in nursing

and act as a base shelter for the contemporary and future needs of new developments.

(v) The capacity of keeping calm, serene and smiling and never to loose temper, even on

provocation.

The Basic B.Sc. Nursing course comprises of 4 years duration. This programme of study leads

to a B.Sc. Nursing Degree offered by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences,

Bangalore. Karnataka, required to possess high motivation towards Nursing

profession. They should possess special qualities of a spirit of altruism, commitment

and dedication to work and a high level of maturity other than the academic

requirements. The programme theoretical instruction integrated with clinical

experience as per the requirements.

After the fourth year the candidates are required to put in One Year of Experience to enable

the students to take up the first level position in Nursing. However with experience they

can rapidly move into leadership and supervisory positions in various areas of Nursing

Education and Practice. This programme provides the necessary foundation to take up

postgraduate studies in Nursing.

The course is permitted by the Karnataka Government and State Nursing Council, and Indian

Nursing Council, New Delhi.

The yearly intake of students is forty for the present.

Eligibility :

Qualifying Examination

A candidate seeking admission to first Basic B.Sc. Nursing course:

i) shall have passed two years Pre University examination conducted by Department of

Pre-University Education, Karnataka State, with English as one of the subjects and Physics,

Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of

English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually and must have obtained a minimum of

not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE) taken together in

the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled

Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and

English taken together in qualifying examination be not less than 40% instead of 50% as above.

OR

ii) shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards /Councils/ Intermediate

Education established by State Governments/ Central Government and recognised as

equivalent to two year Pre University examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health

Sciences/Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and

Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed

subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually and must have obtained a

minimum of not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken

together in the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes,

Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry,

iii) In case of candidates from the stream of Vocational Higher Secondary Course

conducted by the Board of Vocational Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, the candidate

shall have taken a minimum of 5 (five) subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and

English in addition to the vocational subject (vide RGUHS Notification No.

RGUHS/SEF/EC.B.Sc.Nsg/191/2005-06 dated 18.05.2006.)

and shall have passed the said examination in all the subjects individually and shall have

obtained a minimum of not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English

taken together in the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled

Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics,

Chemistry, Biology and English taken together in the qualifying examination be not less than

40% instead of 50% as above.

Age: The candidate should have completed 17 years on or before 31st day of December of

the year of admission.

Candidate shall be medically fit.

Selection : Selection of the candidates should be based on the merit in the entrance

examination held by Sri Shankara College Of Nursing

Duration of the Course : The Duration of the course shall be four completed years including

clinical training of 24 weeks.

Medium of Instruction : English shall be the medium of for the course as well as for the

examination.

Candidates provisionally selected will be intimated about the fees payable to the Institutions.

Selection intimation letters are to be surrendered to the college office at the time of paying fees.

Admission secured on the basis of false information supplied, shall stand cancelled and the fees

Selection procedure

• All eligible candidates will be called for a written test, date of which will be notified by

post.

• Based on the performance in the written test candidates will be short listed and interviewed

for final selection.

• The selected candidates will be offered to join the programme subject to their being found

Centre with all its various specialities having a bed strength of 360 is made available to the

students for clinical experience.

Library and Computer Lab - The Present Nursing Library is a branch of the main Sri Shankara

Cancer Hospital & Research Centre. The collection of titles in the library which includes

medical, nursing and other books. The library has HELINET services of RGUHS.

Reading Room - The Nursing Library has a well-equipped reading room, which provides up-

to-date reference books, journals, newspapers and magazines and internet facilities.

Audio Visual Lab - The College possesses a good number of audio-visual aids

A good collection of video tapes, C.D.s and audio cassettes on different subjects are available

for the students' education. In addition, the College students also have access to the Computer

Lab and latest software.

Spoken and written English class is taken by an English teacher and recommended for all

students to improve their communication skills.

Training on CPR is being provided as part of the syllabus through a simulator. Fire safety

training is given time to time by trained personnel.

A well developed Community Health Department with urban & rural community centres

with various developmental activities planned and executed scientifically are at the disposal of

students for practical community health nursing experience.

Attendance at courses in Communication, Human Formation, including Medical Ethics, Rural

Orientation Programmes and Behavioural Sciences arranged by the College is compulsory

Individualized attention right through the programme will be provided.

Religious Activities : Students are encouraged to avail themselves of the opportunities

provided to pray realizing that it is from the Divine Physician that they draw the healing touch

to be imparted in turn to their patients.

Extra Curricular Activities: In view of the main aim of education as the total development of

the person, a number of opportunities are provided for the students to develop their skills and

talents at various levels, through membership to the Student and Trained Nurses Associations

and participation at local, state and national conferences and scientific exhibitions which

promote leadership potentialities in the students. Besides these, opportunities to develop talents

in music, dance, indoor and outdoor games and sports also are provided.

Health Services: On admission every student will undergo a Medical Examination. An Annual

check-up will be done for all the UG students. Medical care will be given to all the students in

case of illness, at attached hospital

During the course, a high standard of health has to be maintained. In case of any illness as that

of epilepsy, heart diseases and major health deviations detected after admission, the student

may be asked to discontinue the course.

Hostel: Stay in the hostel is encouraged to meet the requirements of the course both academic

and clinical. During the stay in the hostel, the student will strictly adhere to the Hostel Rules.

Every student who wishes to get admitted to the College Hostel, should make an application at

the beginning of academic year in the prescribed application form available at the college

office. Students admitted to the hostel will be given immunisations for hepatitis and typhoid.

Students who are married, those who get married during the course and those who are in the

family way are not eligible for hostel accommodation since there is no provision for single

room accommodation in the College of Nursing hostel. They are expected to make their own

arrangements for accommodation.

Mess : All the students of the hostel shall be required to join the mess. Booklet on rules

regarding Hostel and Mess is available at the office.

Telephone Calls : The College does not entertain direct telephone calls to the students during

working hours. Any message should be passed on through the Principal/Vice Principal / Office.

Mobile phones will not be allowed in the classrooms and hospitals.

Kannada Class : Provision is made for Non-Karnataka students. It is compulsory for all new

entrants who do not know the language and learn Kannada which is a syllabus requirement

and is essential to facilitate communication with the patients during clinical experience.

Vacation : Vacations are planned according to the RGUHS rules. If the students are unable to

return on time due to illness, the Principal should be intimated immediately by telephone/e-

mail followed by a written explanation. On return, they should submit a medical certificate

issued by a registered medical practitioner stating full particulars of their illness and treatment.

Normally, no other leave will be granted except the planned vacation. Students are not granted

leave for social events in the family.

In case a student absents herself from duty/class for any reasons and the Principal is not

satisfied with the explanation regarding her/his absence, the student will be asked to make up

for the number of days she/he was absent at the rate of 3 days for a day of absence, as approved

by the Principal, Those not having at least 80% of attendance for theory and 100% attendance

for clinical in any subject will not be permitted to appear for examination.

Academic Progress and Clinical Evaluation : All Students are expected to maintain a high

academic and clinical standard of performance throughout the programme. To this effect

regular written and practical sessional examinations will be conducted. Consistent standards of

excellence are expected at all times. Students who do not show any progress or who fail

repeatedly will not be allowed to appear for examination / continue the course.

Internal Assessment : Internal assessment in each subject is carried out at prescribed times as

per the weightage of the total university marks. Passing in the Internal assessment is the pre-

requisite to appearing for the University examination.

Examination : The students will appear for theory and practical examination of the Rajiv

Gandhi University at the end of every academic year as prescribed. A mid-term examination

and two sessional examinations will be conducted every year by the college. Examination fee,

as determined by the University, should be paid by the students.

Educational Field Visit : During the course of studies the students will be sent for educational

field visit extending over a period of 10 -15 days or more.

Withdrawal from the Course : As a Matter of Policy, Students are not relieved during the

course of study. However, if any student after admission to the course decides to withdraw

voluntarily from the college at any time before completing the course she/he shall communicate

her/his decision to the Management in writing along with a letter from her/his parents in support

of her/his decision. A student who fulfils these formalities and who is permitted to withdraw

from the course is required to pay the fees for the remaining period of the course

However, fees already paid will not be refunded. A student who discontinues the course after

admission but before the commencement will not be entitled for refund of the fees already paid

and deposits made to the Institution unless the seat that has fallen vacant due to the

discontinuation, is filled up by another candidate. In such a case, an amount equal to 10% of

the total fees payable will be deducted as service charges.

Graduation : On successful completion of the B.Sc. Nursing programme, the graduates are

awarded the B.Sc. Nursing degree during the University convocation. Transcript, original

certificates and course completion certificates are given only when the graduates meet all the

course requirements of the college. The graduates are expected to register themselves with the

Karnataka Nursing Council and also enroll as members of TNAI. Following the successful

completion of the programme, the Graduates will have Graduation ceremony in the Institution.

No student who has failed in the final exams will be allowed for graduation march.

Applicants/Parents/ Guardians are informed that it will not be possible to enter into

correspondence with them in connection with the various provisions in the prospectus. It is

also not possible to grant them an interview in this connection. All decisions or actions taken

by the Management are final and not subject to review.

GENERAL DISCIPLINE

Nursing Profession, which demands altruistic service from its members, exacts self discipline

at a personal level and general discipline in the campus. Therefore:

Regular attendance as well as punctuality is expected from the students at lectures,

demonstrations, practical, field Work and other such academic exercise as well as experiences.

They are required to attend allotted working periods in each of the prescribed subjects.

Students should wear the prescribed complete uniform for duty. Students must be neat and tidy

in their dress, avoiding expensive clothes and exaggerated fashions.

Students are required to carry their Identity Cards certified up-to- date, on their persons at all

times.

The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, to which our College is affiliated

has sent a Circular dated 1 st February 1997 on Ragging. We would like to bring the important

part of the contents of this Circular to the notice of our students:

“Ragging is a Cognisable Offence and that any person caught indulging in Ragging shall be

liable to imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine as stipulated

therein”.

“Principals are instructed to inform the Police and take necessary steps to dismiss the Student”.

Ragging in any form is prohibited in the campus. In addition any student indulging in any form

of Ragging in the Hostel will be debarred from Hostels of this Institution. She will have to

make alternate arrangements for accommodation. Names of the students found ragging will be

sent to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, for further action.

All day scholars are also reminded that they are not allowed in any of the blocks in the Hostel

and all Residents in the Hostel are hereby warned that any act of ragging either in the blocks

or in the common rooms or in the dining halls, recreation room, sports grounds, etc., is strictly

prohibited.

Any Students who indulge in any form of Ragging will undergo severe punishment including

immediate expulsion from the Hostel etc.

A sense of decorum and discipline is expected to every student in the college, hospital as well

as in the entire campus. Ragging is strictly prohibited. They shall not indulge either individually

or collectively, in any form of activity that will bring down the good name of the Institution /

Nursing profession. No person who is a student in a educational institution including an

institution under the direct management of the University or of the Central Government shall

commit ragging. Any person who contravenes subsection shall, on conviction, be punished

with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year with fine which may extend to

two thousand rupees or with both (RGU code of rules on Anti-Ragging).

Anti Ragging Committee : The Anti-Ragging Committee (Review Committee) is formed to

look into this matter who will keep vigilance over the students to prevent any sort of ragging

in the college, Hospital, Hostels and the campus as a whole. According to Government order

“Ragging” in any form is a “Criminal Offence” if any student is involved in ragging, action

will be taken against him/her including Rustication from college and Criminal Proceedings

Students will strive at all costs to be loyal to the Ethos of the Institution and to promote its

image and status by a humane, ethical and professional code of conduct. Failure to follow these

and such other regulations will necessitate the management to take disciplinary action as

deemed fit.

Work Experience ( Internship) : All B.Sc. Nursing students on successful completion of the

course of four years will be required to put in one year compulsory internship for work

experience in the parent institution .During this period they will be paid an allowance, which

will be fixed by the Management from time to time.

Attendance

A minimum of not less than 80 % attendance in theory and practical / clinical separately in

each subject in each academic year is essential for appearing in the examination. A candidate

pursuing in the course shall study in the college for the entire period as a full time student. No

candidate is permitted to work in a hospital / nursing home / laboratory / college while studying

this course. No candidate should join any other course of study or appear for any other

examination conducted by this university or any other university in India or abroad during the

period of registration. Each academic year shall be taken as a unit for calculating the

attendance.

Internal Assessment

Regular periodic assessment shall be conducted throughout the course. Although the question

of number of tests is left to the institution at least three tests in theory and practical each year

be held. The test preceding the university examination may be similar to the pattern of

university examination. Average of the marks of the three tests for theory and practical

separately shall be sent to the university.

A candidate shall secure not less than 50% of marks prescribed for internal assessment

in theory and not less than 50% marks prescribed in practical, separately, in each

subject/paper to be eligible to appear in the university examination.

Schedule of Examination

The university shall conduct two examinations annually at an interval of not less than 4 to 6

months as notified by the university from time to time. A candidate who satisfies the

requirement of attendance, progress and conduct as stipulated by the university shall be eligible

to appear for the university examination. Certificate to that effect shall be produced from the

Head of the institution along with the application for examination and the prescribed fee.

Criteria for Pass: A candidate has to fulfill the following criteria:

For declaration of pass in any subject in the University examination, a candidate shall pass both in

Theory and Practical/Clinical examinations components separately as stipulated below:

The Theory component consists of marks obtained in University Written paper(s) and internal

Assessment (Theory). For a pass in theory, a candidate shall secure not less than 50% marks in

aggregate i.e., marks obtained in written examination and internal assessment (theory) added

together. For a pass in practical/clinical examination, a candidate shall secure not less than 50% marks

in aggregate, i.e., marks obtained in university practical /clinical examination and internal assessment

(practical) added together.

A candidate not securing 50% marks in aggregate in Theory or Practical/Clinical examination in a

subject shall be declared to have failed in that subject and is required to appear for both Theory and

Practical/Clinical again in the subsequent examination in that subject.

However, for a pass in English paper, a candidate shall secure not less than 40% of maximum

prescribed marks in theory and 40% of maximum prescribed marks in internal assessment.

According to I.N.C. Syllabus of B.Sc. Nursing

Duration of course will be 4 years divided into four yearly terms including 24 weeks of internship

towards later part of the fourth year.

1. Internship means monthly integrated clinical duties in which 2 weeks of evening and night

shift duties are includes.

2. Internship should be carried out as 8 hours per day @ 48 hours per week.

3. Students during internship will be supervised by nursing teachers.

4. Fourth year final examination only after completing internship.

Declaration of Class: (Only in the final year examination)

a) A candidate having appeared in all the subjects in the same examination and passed that

examination in the first attempt and secures 75% of marks or more of grand total marks prescribed

will be declared to have passed the examination with distinction.

b) A candidate having appeared in all the subjects in the same examination and passed that

examination in the first attempt and secures 65% of marks or more but less than 75% of grand total

marks prescribed will be declared to have passed the examination in First Class.

c) A candidate having appeared in all the subjects in the same examination and passed that

examination in the first attempt and secures 50% of marks or more but less than 65% of grand total

marks prescribed will be declared to have passed the examination in Second Class.

d) A candidate passing a university examination in more than one attempt shall be placed in Pass

class irrespective of the percentage of marks secured by him/her in the examination.

[Please note fraction of marks should not be rounded off for clauses (a), (b) and (c)]

Carry Over

1. A candidate failing in more then two subjects will not be promoted to the next year.

2. Candidate shall not be admitted to the subsequent higher examination unless the candidate

has passed in all the papers in the previous examination.

3. If a candidate fails in theory or practical exam in a paper in that paper he/she has to re-appear

for both in Theory and Practical.

Maximum number of attempts and maximum period for completion of the course

1. Maximum number of attempts permitted for each paper is three including first attempt.

2. The maximum period to complete the course successfully should not exceed eight years.

Award of degree

Must have 100 % attendance in each of the practical areas before award of degree.
