A team of students from the BSc (Hons) Scheme in Logistics and Enterprise Engineering won the Gold Award in the “Excellent Financial Education Project”, Personal Finance Ambassador Programme 2019/20, co-organized by the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, Investor and Financial Education Council, and St James’ Settlement 物流工程兼管理 (榮譽) 理學士 (JUPAS Programme Code: JS3571) Logistics Engineering with Management (LEM) Logistics engineering is one of the main industries that has been identified by the HKSAR Government for accelerated development and substantial growth to support the local economy. Consequently, the growth of logistics activities in this region will be enormous in the years ahead. Logistics engineering with management can be defined as the use of technology to manage the processes of planning, implementing and controlling the efficient and effective flow and storage of goods, together with the services and related information, from the point of origin to the point of consumption, so that they conform to customer requirements. Managing logistics is a very interesting field, involving the effective management of human resources, materials, handling equipment, information, and the relevant finances through a network of suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers. It has become increasingly more challenging as the trend towards market globalization and mass customization accelerates. Programme Aim The LEM programme aims to provide students with comprehensive education and professional training at honours degree level for preparing logistics engineers and professionals who are competent in the design, implementation, control, and execution of logistics systems and related technologies, as well as to develop the ability of students to manage complex systems of business, logistics and technology for increasingly technology-enabled logistics businesses. Career Prospects Graduates of our programme undertake a wide range of jobs in the industrial and logistics sectors. Their careers lead to managerial positions with responsibility for areas such as logistics process management, business analysis and operation re-design. Placement Opportunities and Industry-related Final Year ProjectsLocal and overseas placement opportunities are provided to our students for broadening their horizons, and to apply and practice what they have learnt from their academic studies. They gain valuable experience and build career networks by working in well-established organizations such as Pico Group, PCCW Solutions, Bank of China (HK), Leo Paper Group and GP Batteries. In the final year, graduating students will be guided to complete a capstone project for applying and consolidating their generic competencies and professional knowledge learnt from the programme. This programme is under the BSc (Hons) Scheme in Logistics and Enterprise Engineering 物流及企業工程(榮譽)理學士組合課程. Students are entirely free to choose to study this programme or BSc (Hons) in Enterprise Engineering with Management 企業工程兼管理(榮譽)理學士 in Year 2. This provides flexibility to our students to make choices based on their interest after having foundation knowledge in logistics and enterprise engineering.
