The BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship really is the affordable way to go motor racing and is the perfect starting point for those coming into the sport for the first time. There is a plentiful supply of Mk1s ready to race but even if you want to build your own car, donor cars are readily available and cheap to buy and convert.

The 2014 season was another successful year with over 70 drivers registered for the Championship, with 49 cars turning out for the season finale at donington park in october. For 2015, we are expecting further growth and a great calendar of eight meetings featuring nineteen races is in place.

The season starts on the Silverstone national circuit in april but the main highlight of the year will undoubtedly be the May double-header on the Brands hatch Grand prix circuit. other popular circuits such as Castle Combe, Rockingham & oulton park are also on the schedule before the season reaches a dramatic conclusion with the now traditional triple-header at donington park in october.

all of the events will feature 20-minute qualifying sessions and 20-minute races and will be broadcast on Motors TV throughout the season. The BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship will also feature a dedicated Race Centre at all championship rounds. This will be the focal point of the championship in the paddock and will enable all competitors and team owners a meeting point to socialise.

With tightly controlled regulations and few modifications allowed, the Mazda MX-5 Mk1 is a great entry route into club motorsport as the Mazda MX-5 has proved to be a very popular choice with competitors looking for affordable and competitive racing.

You can follow the season as it unfolds via the Championship’s website and Twitter account.
