BRS Student Link is a monthly newsletter that carries reflections of students at
BRS. It’s a platform provided by BRS for students to exhibit their talents,challenges
and reflection on their learning process inside and outside the classroom. The
newsletter is a digital communication medium to encourage all the students to ex-
press their views and talents

There is a lot of talent around the globe, but not all of them are recognized. All of
them might not get a chance. But in BRS the school has formed the editorial body
to bring out the talents in the school. Every month the student link comes up with
the talents of the students in BRS and the new editorial members would like to
thank our Principal ,Vice-Principal, supervisors and teachers for us giving us this
wonderful opportunity .This will once again be an example of what the Editorial
Team always believes, “Creativity is the greatest expression of liberty”.

PALACE OF PALACETINA
CHAPTER 2 - THE DINNER PARTY Only one more day left. Days are going really fast. In the afternoon (2:00), Alice’s best friend, Jeena, called up. And asked whether Alice was going for Stena’s dinner-party. Alice told her bestie that she was going for it. She told her that only her mother agreed and still she didn’t ask her father about it. Jeena asked Alice, if suppose Alice was going for the dinner-party, then to pick her up at 6:00 pm. Dad had no objections to pick Alice and Stena. It was already 6:00 pm and Mr. Skyler still did not pick Alice to Stena’s house. Alice was a bit late for the party. Her mom called her, informing that it was already 6:00. Alice came down-stairs wearing a beautiful pink frock. It was very shiny! Alice: “Dad, I am ready, let’s go!” Dad picked her up in a red awesome Ferrari car! They reached Jeena’s house. In front of the house, there stood a girl with a long nice white hair. She wore a blue dress, who looked like Cinderella. The girl waved her hand to Alice. She sat in the car, and started talking all about the last day of the school and the fun that they had on that day. Jeena was ready for the next session of the year, but Alice wasn’t, because she will not be with her best friend from next day onwards. They reached Stena’s house by the time Jeena was talking about next year in the school. Alice bid good bye to her father. Stena’s mother opened the door and welcomed both in. They saw Stena wearing a nice beautiful dress. Stena: Good evening girls! Alice: “Hi” Jeena: “Hello” Stena welcomed both inside the hall. There Alice and Jeena saw two more people invited, one was a girl and the other was a boy. Alice rec-ognised the girl but she didn’t know who the boy was. Then, Stena in-troduced them .

Stena: “This is Minny (the girl), and I think you would have seen her in our school, one of the popular girls!” Jeena: “I see” Stena: “This is Tim (the boy), he is one of my neighbours and proba-bly you would have never seen him before, because he has just shift-ed his house this week.” As soon as Alice heard the words SHIFT and the word HOUSE, she wanted to tell Jeena about the shift. They both sat in a corner of the hall. Alice thought it was a good time to talk to Jeena about the shift…. Alice: “Hmmmm…. Jeena, I want to tell this to you, that…. I am shift-ing to Palacetina and I think so, this will be our last meet.” Jeena: “I have heard of PALESTINE but what kind of place is PALACETINA” Alice: “I don’t know” Jeena: “Its ok! We will talk to each other in phone, ok?” Alice: “I wish to. I think this whole one month my family will be busy in Palacetina.” Jeena: “Its fine! If you are my bestie, then you would never forget me! Jeena is a girl, who always don’t take many things seriously. She says for everything “its ok!”. She gets neither surprised nor angry for any-thing at any time. This is one of the reasons why Alice likes Jeena. After a while, the dinner was served. Jeena and Alice liked it a lot. The girls were gossiping and giggling a lot! And then Stena took them to a room and said, it was her room. Stena, Alice, Jeena, Minny and Tim had a lot of fun. They also played cards and some other board games. They had a good talk. Alice told Stena that she really had a lot of fun in her house and, also liked her mother’s food. Stena was very glad to hear this! Jeena too thanked Stena for inviting her for the party.
Later Alice called her father and asked him to pick her up. Al-
ice also asked whether Jeena was coming with her, but Jeena
told her that her mother was picking her up. Alice bid a last
good-bye to her friends. She was missing Jeena so much. She
thought she would never see her again. With an upset mind,
Alice went back to sleep last night in Morocus. She had
worst dreams that night, she dreamt as if she was leaving her
friend in some danger. But that was not true, because, it was
not her friends whom she dreamt in danger, but it was actu-
ally, herself and her brother, who were going to be in dan-
ger……….

RAMADAN
THE HOLY MONTH
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It be-
gins upon the visual sighting of the last full moon of the year and
lasts 29 or 30 days, depending on the year. The holiday of Eid al-
Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the next lu-
nar month .
The Purpose of Ramadan
Ramadan is intended originated as an observation of the first rev-
elation of the Qur'an to Prophet Mohammed. During the
blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world abstain
from all food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight
hours (such as smoking ). But Ramadan is much more than just
not eating and drinking: it is a time to purify the soul, refocus at-
tention on God and practice self-discipline and sacrifice.

The Practice Fasting during the month of Ramadan is considered one
of the 5 Pillars of Islam--the five activities that shape a
Muslim's life. Prayer occurs on a daily basis; pilgrimage
to Mecca (Makka) is done once in a lifetime; charity
and professing one's faith are both ongoing. Fasting for
the month of Ramadan is an annual observance; every
year, Muslims take an entire month out of their lives to
observe this strict fast and rededicate themselves to
worship and faith. Muslims are called upon to use this month to re-
evaluate their lives in light of Islamic guidance. We are to make peace with those who have wronged
us, strengthen ties with family and friends, do away with
bad habits--essentially to clean up our lives, our
thoughts and our feelings. The Arabic word for
"fasting" literally means "to refrain"--and it means not
only refraining from food and drink, but also from evil
actions, thoughts and words. The physical effects of the fast are felt by Muslims as a
reminder of those who suffer throughout the year--
those who are poor, homeless, refugees--and who can-
not meet their basic needs. It reminds Muslims not to
be wasteful and to feel empathy for those who face
hunger on a daily basis. We should feel gratitude for the
bounties of Allah: clean water, sufficient healthy food,
the comfort of a home and the health of our family
members. There are so many in the world who must
survive without these basic needs, and Ramadan is a
time for us to give thanks and reaffirm our commitment
to helping those in need. During Ramadan, every part of our bodies must be re-
strained. The tongue must be restrained from backbiting
and gossip.

lawful things. The hand must give in charity and not touch or
take anything that does not belong to it. The ears must refrain
from listening to idle talk or obscene words. The feet must
refrain from going to sinful places. In such a way, every part of
the body observes the fast.
Therefore, fasting is not merely physical but is rather the to-
tal commitment of the person's body and soul to the spirit of
the fast. Ramadan is a time to practice self-restraint; a time to
cleanse the body and soul from impurities and re-focus one's
self on the worship of God and charity to mankind.
