customercommentRegarding Broxaps two-tier cycleparking.

After looking at several two-tier cycleparking solutions on the market wedecided to install Broxap's high-risesystem in the Centro Cycle Hubs.

We felt that Broxap's system wasstraightforward and intuitive and wasalso adaptable to our requirements.

After consulting with cycle user groupswe wanted to have standard 'Sheffield'style stands on the lower tier whichmakes access for using D-locks mucheasier and the flexibility in the designallowed us to achieve this.

We also felt that Broxaps solution wasgood value for money.

We decided on a more affordable non-lift-assisted version, which although isentirely manual, remains very easy forall types of users to load cycles ontothe upper tier.

Making easy, easier was always in our mind whenwe designed the Hi-Rise, so by adding the optionof a gas-strut mechanism to the trough wecreated the Easi-riserlift-assist version.

This now reduces lifting weight by 6-7kgsallowing the trough to be lifted via a single finger action, allowing for people of lesser height aneven easier parking experience.

The retrieval of the cycle is also enhanced by thefact the trough lowers in a slow-motion hands-free operation once you have pulled the handleclear of the upper stand.

By taking the option of the Easi-riser you reallywill be making easy just that little bit easier topark your cycle.

Having worked with Oxfordshire County

Council on previous occasions, Broxap was

invited to discuss the provision for a new

cycle store at Didcot Parking Station, which

formed part of forecourt redevelopment at the

South Oxfordshire station. This high profile

project was to be the catalyst for further

regeneration of the Didcot Gateway.

As part of the redevelopment they required

covered two tier cycle parking at the station,

which was a first in Oxfordshire. The shelters

selected by the Council were Broxaps Apollo

design as they had been used already on

many previous schemes throughout

Oxfordshire. Our new two tier cycle parking

rack the Hi-Rise was also proposed for use

within these shelters.

As the Hi-Rises had also been used also on

London Midland lines, the commercials and

simplicity of the two tier storage rack

appealed to the Council and Broxap was

awarded the contract directly to work

alongside Birse Civils on the completion of the

station redevelopment.

The project was delivered in challenging

possessions within a limited time frame for

opening to the public. Broxap successfully

delivered the project within all parameters

and the new two-tier cycle parking facilities

have proved an immediate success with

cyclists.

ND10 The Zone is a residential apartment

complex designed by Barratt Homes in the

Temple Quay area of Bristol.

Comprising of a large number of apartments

surrounding courtyards the facility for mass

cycle parking required something a little

different.

Broxap were charged with creating a system

that could be utilised in a basement area yet

still create cycle parking for almost every

apartment user.

The Hi-Rise fitted this criteria perfectly as the

two-tier system was easily accessed in the

basement areas by positioning the system

down the length of each wall and then across

the facing wall at the end of the basement

area.

The Hi-Rise easily offered cyclist the ability

the load and unload their cycles and to lock

and store them in a safe and dry location

within their own apartment block.

This mass storage solution was well received

by users and shows how flexible the Hi-Rise is

for indoor as well as outdoor use.

Sandringham School in St. Albans required a

solution to their need for mass pupil cycle

parking.

They had a designated area that they wanted

to use and wanted quite a large amount of

cycles parked in that area.

Broxap provided the Hi-Rise system to

achieve their goals and incorporated them

into a series of Broxap Apollo cycle shelters

which kept the cycle stored beneath dry in

bad weather.

The compound was finished with security

mesh fencing and lockable swing gates.

The entire area now offers a clean, tidy and

easily accessible cycle parking area where

cycles can be loaded and unloaded into the

upper and lower tiers with ease.

Sheffield racks were used in the lower tier as

these are the favoured form of rack as it

allows for easy reach of a cycle when it is

secured to it.

The whole aspect of riding a cycle andthen having the ability to leave it in asecure, dry place whilst you work or useanother travel element such as trainalleviates the stress and anxiety of trafficjams and also gives you the peace ofmind that your prized possession will bethere when you return to collect it.

Our Hubs offer many features to makecycle parking simpler and easier thanever before.

Whatever your cycle parking requirementBroxap can tailor our products to meetyour needs as we have done with thelikes of Centro and TfGM (Transport forGreater Manchester) and many othersthroughout the UK.

Enhanced Security is availablewith automated hub doorsoperated by swipe card access.

These pre-pay cards can be pre-loaded by users to allow accessto Hub(s) at any time.

Added security of CCTV can beinstalled within Hubs, this can beoperational 24 hours a day 7days a week and monitor theinside or outside of the Hub.

This CCTV can be linked to amain monitoring facility orsecurity group.

Our Hubs offer a high visibilityand are well lit at night providingthe user with the peace of mindthat they are safe and protected.

Hubs are open and airy with noshadowy corners to harbourunwanted intruders.

Methods of parkingcycles inside of hubs canvary however we wouldalways recommend atleast the use of theSheffield stand/rack asthis is the best stand toallow locking of the cyclewith multiple locks.

Our Hi-Rise systemworks well withSheffields in the lowertier and offers largecapacity cycle parkingwith an easy to usesystem.

Optional extras such aslockers and seating canbe integrated into aHub, this give the userthe ability to secure(using their own lock)helmets, waterproofs,gloves etc in the Huband collect them upontheir return, thusreducing the excess ofcarrying bulky itemswhen not on your cycle.

if you have an existing building that is tobe used as a Hub we can provide masscycle parking for this area along withlockers, and seating arrangements.

Project: Centro Cycle HubWest Midlands

Client: Centro in conjunction withMidland Metro Tram

Value: 68,000.00 per unit

Scope: Design, manufactureand install specialistsecure cycle hub

Programme: 14 weeks per unit

The staff at Centro came up with a concept

design for a hub in which they envisaged

would provide a step change in the quality of

cycle storage at local stations. They were

looking for a suitable contractor to supply and

install a purpose built self-contained cycle

storage facility, which was both iconic and

distinctive.

One of the key elements of the new hub was

its roof, the roof itself gave the hub the wow

factor Centro required. Although complex,

the roofs sinusoidal almost saddle like

appearance was a welcome challenge for our

technical designers here at Broxap. The hub

had to be secure, weather protected and offer

CCTV coverage, lighting and provide

smartcard access.

Broxap Ltd was chosen as preferred supplier

for the Cycle Hub facilities and has been

engaged for the subsequent Design and Build

Programme for a number of other locations.

Based on a design concept by the clients

architect and utilising Broxaps Design and

Build expertise, this concerned major updates

to the provision of up to the minute secure

cycle parking provision in the Greater

Manchester area on behalf of Transport for

Greater Manchester (TfGM).

Project: Stirling RailwayStation, Scotland

Client: Transport Scotland

Value: Circa 62,000.00

Scope: Bespoke cycle huband shelter

Programme: 20 weeks

Scotrail required a cycle hub and extra cycle

parking facilities at Stirling Station. Broxap

provided this bespoke solution and created

this hi-visibility cycle hub allowing cyclists to

travel by cycle to the station and leave them

in a dry environment and secured to Sheffield

Cycle Stands.

Additional parking was provided in the form of

a Wardale cycle shelter.
