How to make Irish brown bread!

Ingredients

• 480g wholemeal flour• 250g white flour• 2 teaspoons bread soda• 2 teaspoons salt• 1 pint of buttermilk

Recipe

• Preheat the oven to 230°C• Put the wholemeal flour into a large mixing

bowl along with the sieved white four, the bread soda and salt.

• Mix well.• Carefully add three quarters of the milk to the

mixture.• Using hands, mix this slowly together.

• The dough should come together easily however if it is too dry you should add a small amount of the buttermilk.

• Place the dough on a floured board and shape the dough into a flat oval, about 2 inches high.

• Place the dough into the oven and leave to bake for 35 minutes.
