CATEGORY
The Mill
Brookite have been manufacturing kites and outdoor toys for over 100 years. The company are constantly updating and adding to the ranges but still have the basic kite shapes that were the original mainstay of Brookite in 1907 when the company was founded by the Brooke Brothers.
They, like everyone else were swept along in the raging enthusiasm for aviation and all things flight related. In 1910 it was a Brookite kite that took an aerial aloft from SS Mafalda in the South Atlantic Ocean enabling radio pioneer, Guglielmo Marconi to make the first ever transatlantic radio message spanning over 6000 miles.
With this heritage, the very reason for the company’s longevity has been the ability to adapt to changing trends and to be constantly innovative with new designs, shapes, materials and the more challenging flying techniques that are demanded by current kite flyers and adrenalin junkies!
Today this family business continues to thrive from a converted corn mill based in Devon, supplying kites and toys to outlets all over the world. Every product leaving the factory is a quality item, supplied at a sensible price and is a part of all the experience gained in over a century of kite making.

Welcome to our new catalogue for 2015.
We have some great new products which we hope you will like and of course all the old favourites too!
Check out our new Giant Kites – featuring the Sunbeam and Skyburst, these kites are over 1m in length and width and come in exciting colourways. They are easy to fly and have long tails that make them look spectacular in the sky.
We have enhanced the Windthings range with new lines – a fun Chicken Spinner, an attractive Star Spinner and a Turbo Twister Windsock. By request we have added a giant ground stake measuring 1.25m long.
The Venom Skateboard range has had a complete makeover. There are two new boards - the Scorpion, available in blue or purple - and the Stripe, available in green or red. Venom Triple Pad Sets and Helmets complete the skating line-up!
Also new for 2015 is the Parashoot. This is a very exciting, innovative product for Brookite and features a clever, new release mechanism. Simply attach the parachute to the mechanism and send it up the kite line – the parachute falls to the ground and the kite stays in the air. This item is available in two packs. Firstly as a complete kit with a kite, release mechanism and parachuter and secondly as a kite accessory. This pack will contain the release mechanism and two parachuters only and will be suitable to use with any single line kite. These items will add fun to any kite flying day!
Whilst looking forward to this year we would also like to take a moment to reflect on 2014. We had a good trading year and one of the highlights was being presented with a Golden Teddy Award at the Toymaster Show. This award is given to people who have served the toy industry for over 15 years, who go over and above expectation and are the industry’s genuinely ‘good’ guys! This award was given to Nick and Mandy Harrison (right)– the first time a joint ‘Teddy’ has been presented. – an honour indeed.
We’d like to thank you all for your continued support and hope that 2015 is a great year for you all.
