The negative effects of broken marriage on children in western part of

Africa (Nigeria)

I. Introduction.

1. Quotations:

There is a quotation in the holy Bible that says “He who finds a wife has find a good

thing “Thesis statements: Despite all the Godly sayings during wedding by the groom

and the bride that they will be together for better for worse also in richer and poorer, the

rate of divorce keep appreciating in the country of Nigeria and the negative effect

continues to have abnormal impacts on the children.

II. Effects on Children.

2. Behavioral problems

a. Stealing and lies: It is part of the bad behavior children develop

when they don’t have both parents available to caution then on

such behaviors

b. Sibling rivalry: When both parents are separated and the only one

available has gone to work in order to generate income to put some

food on the table for the kids, rivalry and competition may occur

within the children and other sibling which can lead to physical fight

among them self that can result to a big injury since no parents are

available to caution them.

c. Disruptiveness: When the children lack some necessary morality

that needs to be provided by the parents, but since the parents is

separated and there is no one to correct the abnormality of the kids

cooperatively, they tend to develop disruptive habit in their home

and out in their schools.

Conclusion.

1. In conclusion marriage break up has caused a lot of severe psychological

damages to children within the age range of 3 to 12 years old. Gradually

as the damage continues to get worse, children will begin to develop

mental problem and in most cases some of them later become a teen

Mom and Dad since there is no adequate care from the divorced parents.

2. If children are being put into consideration in saving marriage, it will create

a better life that is about to ruin and a bright future for the children.
