• Attend any group �tness classes – get your sweat on in Zumba or de-stress in one of our yoga classes.

Youth membershipYouth memberships are all-inclusive. Not only is the general facility access included with youth membership, but so are swimming lessons, youth recreation and sports programs.

Advanced Courses

Aquatics

Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid CPR-BMust have completed Bronze Star or be 13 years of age or older

Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water-rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill and �tness. Rescuers learn tows, carries, defence methods and releases in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk involving conscious and unconscious victims. Lifesavers develop stroke e�ciency and endurance in a 500m timed swim. Throughout the course participants will also learn the knowledge and practical skills needed for their Emergency First Aid with CPR-B quali�cation.

National Lifeguard training emphasizes prevention and e�ective rescue response in emergencies including �rst aid training. Candidates develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills. Your current First Aid quali�cation must be from one of the following organizations to be deemed valid: Lifesaving Society, St. John Ambulance, Canadian Red Cross, Canadian Ski Patrol.

First Aid

Standard First AidStandard First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of �rst aid and CPR. Standard First Aid incorporates all of Emergency First Aid and is designed for those who require a more in-depth understanding of �rst aid including; legal implications of �rst aid treatment, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, chest injuries and other medical emergencies. This includes a CPR–C Certi�cation. Large groups are welcome to set up individualized courses. Contact the aquatics department to book your workplace or school course.

Parent & Tot Ages 3 months - 3 years

Must be accompanied by a caregiver in the water

Our Parent and Tot program is designed to foster a positive relationship between your child and swimming. The curriculum is focused on fun activities and games in the pool as well as water comfort.

Little Dippers Ages 3-5

The Little Dippers program introduces preschoolers to a wide range of water activities while setting a foundation of swimming skills essential to their safety in water and continuous learning in swim lessons.

Learn to Swim Ages 6-13

The Learn to Swim Program is designed to build a love for the water and introduce fundamental swim skills to children over the age of 6.

Star 1-4 Ages 6-13

Must have completed Level ‘Swimmer’ or equivalent

The Star 1-4 program focuses on improvement and learning of the core swim strokes as well as con�dence in deep water.

Star 5-7 Ages 6 - 13

If under 10, must have completed Star 4 level or equivalent

The Star 5-7 program focuses on building endurance while streamlining the core swim strokes. This program will also introduce participants to some basic lifesaving skills included in the Lifesaving Society's Swim Patrol program.

Must be comfortable swimming a minimum of 100m without stopping.

Must be a member of the YMCA.

We are a club that encourages adults of all ages to swim regularly for �tness, stroke improvement and camaraderie. The clubs structured training sessions provide swim coaching.

Lifeguard University (LGU) Ages 16+

Participants must be 16 years of age or older and have strong swimming skills. Quali�cations to be earned: Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid with CPR ‘C’, and National Lifeguard.

Always wanted to be a lifeguard? Live the dream with YMCA Lifeguard University. Lifeguard U is an intensive, condensed series of courses run over 4 weekends. Successful completion of all four courses and examinations will certify you as a National Lifeguard!

Build con�dence with our Home Alone Safety Course for youth 10+. This program was designed to provide youth with the training to make knowledgeable decisions when home by themselves. Youth will gain the certainty and skills to handle issues that could arise, while keeping themselves safe.

Our babysitting course takes place in an interactive classroom environment. Participants are taught the basic skills and knowledge to care for young children and are encouraged to participate in group discussion and activities to cover the required topics. This course requires a Minimum 75% on the written exam and 100% attendance is required.

Youth/Teen Circuit Ages 6+ This is a perfect class for those who are looking for more variety in their �tness routine. Circuit class is timed interval sessions of work and rest. You will use a combination of strength and cardio exercises to help you achieve your �tness goals. Modi�cations are provided, so this class is perfect for any �tness level.

Youth BootCamp Ages 10+ Boot Camp is your full body workout – cardio and strength conditioning all wrapped in one! Class variations include drills, strength and conditioning movements, work with a partner, and a variety of equipment. Boot Camp is great for all �tness levels.

There is a two hour limit to this babysitting service.

$1 for each 30 minutes or you may purchase a monthly pass.

Youth/Teen Circuit Ages 6+ This is a perfect class for those who are looking for more variety in their �tness routine. Circuit class is timed interval sessions of work and rest. You will use a combination of strength and cardio exercises to help you achieve your �tness goals. Modi�cations are provided, so this class is perfect for any �tness level.

Cycle Fit A cardiovascular and aerobic workout on a stationary bike, which gives you the bene�t of outdoor cycling, in an indoor atmosphere.

Step/Step & StrengthA traditional cardio-based choreographed �tness class for all levels. Uses a portable platform of variable heights. Step & Strength incorporates strength conditioning into the routine.

Zumba/Zumba Gold (low impact)®Zumba is a dance-�tness class that incorporates Latin and International music with easy to follow steps, creating a dynamic, energizing, and e�ective workout. No prior dance experience is necessary.

TabataThis form of High Intensity Interval Training works 20 seconds of ultra-intense functional exercise with 10 seconds of rest repeated continuously for 4 minutes (8 cycles). Individuals will bene�t from strength and aerobic gains, as well as an elevation to resting metabolic rate. Intermediate or advanced �tness levels recommended.

Total BodyA class that focuses on muscular strength and endurance for all the major muscle groups. This class may incorporate the use of body bars, dumbbells, bosu and stability balls, and/or steps.

Total Body BandsExplore the use of resistance bands with this workout, intended to target al the major muscle groups to condition the entire body

Gentle Total Body (GTB)Low-impact cardio and a total body workout for all major muscle groups. Exercise modi�cations are given to accommodate varying �tness abilities. The workout could include free weights, body bar, exercise balls.

Chair ZumbaThe international �tness dance, Zumba, is adapted to the chair for this class. Modi�cations provided to allow participants to be seated, or to stand with balance assistance from a chair. Join this fun, low impact exercise class.

Gentle StretchAfter a short cardio warm-up, �ow through standing, seated and prone stretches to relax the whole body. Chair modi�cations are also available.

Sit Fit/Yoga A one-hour class broken up into 30 minute blocks. First half are chair based strengthening exercises, the second half are focused on stretching, breathing, balance and relaxation. Great for those with reduced mobility, balance di�culties, or easing back into exercise after injury or surgery.

Low ImpactA traditional cardio-based choreographed �tness class for all levels that o�ers low impact variations.

Family Yoga Children will learn foundational yoga poses and experience them through �owing movement and guided play/games in a caring, inclusive environment. Flexibility, mindfulness and breath work will be incorporated into every class as well as calming music, to help soothe away the stresses from fast-paced, very busy lives. This is a fun way to introduce yoga to your child.

Yoga Instructor Course Ages 16+

Join us this fall and learn to become a yoga instructor. The course will immerse you in practical asanas and the theory and philosophy of yoga as we combine in-class, online and apprenticeship approaches to create a balanced learning environment. The style of yoga we will explore is Hatha and will allow you to become a YMCA-recognized yoga teacher upon completion.

Registered ProgramsIf your child misses 3 consecutive classes and the YMCA is not noti�ed in advance, your child’s space may become available for the next child waitlisted for that space. This includes both youth recreation programs and aquatic lessons.

Camp, Program & Course RefundsA Cancellation Request must be completed and received no later than 3 business days (72 hours) in advance of the course, program or camp start date to receive a refund of the remaining fees after the cancellation fee is assessed. There is a $20.00 cancellation fee for each course, program, and camp. Refunds will not be provided for a Cancellation Request received less than 7 business days in advance OR once such course, program or camp has commenced.

Child ProtectionThe YMCA is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all who use our facility. For this reason, all children under the age of 10 must be with a parent or guardian who is at least 16 years of age. All guests entering our facility to participate, pick up or spectate, must show ID.

Membership CancellationPre-Authorized Continuous MembershipTo cancel a Pre-Authorized Continuous Membership we require a Membership Cancellation Request form to be submitted, in writing, 14 days before next payment.

Paid In Full MembershipTo cancel a Paid in Full Membership we require a Membership Cancellation Request form to be submitted. When a paid in full membership is cancelled, a refund is issued based upon the time remaining until the expiry date.
