SUSTAINABILITY IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

The impact of the built environment is enormous. Sustainabil-ity should be a key component to all aspects of the design and construction process. The built environment is wholly depen-dant upon an ever-decreasing supply of natural resources start-ing with construction and continuing through the entire life span of every building. As the demand and costs for materials and energy continue to increase, our commitment is to pro-duce design solutions that minimize waste and environmental impact while maximizing energy efficiency and the quality of spaces where we work, play and live.

DAYLIGHTING AND THE BOTTOM LINE

Daylighting uses natural light to illuminate buildings. Using the sun costs nothing to the environment but pays big dividends to building occupants. Daylit buildings are more environmentally, technologi-cally, and anthropologically aware than more traditional buildings. Daylit buildings make a statement about their owners: That they know their building science and put it to the best possible use by investing in buildings that use less energy, are more affordable, more comfortable and protect our natural resources. The result is a compelling, efficient solution that also protects the environment.

THE AIR YOU BREATHE

The U.S. Green Building Council estimates that one third of all buildings have serious indoor air quality problems, accounting for an approximated annual loss of $15 billion in worker productivity. These un-healthy environments are expensive for business. Even small improvements in air quality could reclaim millions in lost revenue.
