ABOUT US

The Global Network for Rights and Development (GNRD) is an international NGO in special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2015.

GNRD was established in June, 2008 in Norway with the intention to enhance and support both human rights and development by adopting new strategies and policies for real and lasting change.

GNRD collaborates with the European Parliament and African Union Commission (AUC), in favour of the respect for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in all countries.

• Fostering collaboration and partnership between public and private stakeholders in academic, technical and political circles, in order to promote and protect human rights.

• Protecting and supporting the most vulnerable groups of population suffering from humanitarian crisis and armed conflicts, through the provision of humanitarian aid and mediation support, in accordance with international law and International Conventions of the United Nations.

• Supporting democratisation and citizen participation in the context of human rights, in order to promote greater equity and social justice.

• Promoting the exercise of fundamental human rights and gender equality in developing countries as well as improving quality of life of people living in poverty and exclusion.

• Promoting the human rights of women and children as an inalienable, integral and indivisible part of universal human rights, fundamental freedoms and the empowerment of women.

MISSION

GNRD’s ambition is to defend human rights and to contribute to development in developing countries. With our actions, we aim to enhance the real capacities of people in disadvantaged sec-tions of society so that they can achieve sustainable economic, social and cultural development.

OBJECTIVES

• Working jointly, as well as forming networks and alliances, with other organisations in the North and in the South committed to the defence of human rights and the development of people.

OUR WORK

• GNRD actively participates in the Human Rights Council (HRC) Sessions in the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) by taking part in debates, making statements (oral

and written) and organising side events.

• GNRD implements cooperation projects in poor regions: Madagascar (dining room, student housing and documentary 56), Senegal (sanitation systems in Louga region) and Gaza (assisting women in the post-war period).

• GNRD organises and moderates conferences, workshops, and formal and informal dialogues worldwide on the discourse of peace, human rights, gender inequalities, albinism in Africa, global warming, conflict resolution, humanitarian aid and development.

• GNRD empowers youth by means of diverse programs and training, along with supporting specific GNRD Youth Groups.

VIEW

GNRD aims to be recognised and valued for its struggle for the defence and promotion of human rights and the democratization of peoples, supporting processes that lead to social redistribution and sustainable and equitable development targeted to the most vulnerable groups of population.

• GNRD provides humanitarian aid to asylum seekers in Europe: Field missions to Al-Wehdat, Al-Zaatari refugee camps in Jordan, and shipment of medical material to Al Awda hospital in Gaza.

• GNRD performs international observation missions during the elections in Sudan, Jordan, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia and Zambia, ensuring the fulfilment of the mechanisms of democracy.
