B. Tech. (Polymer Engineering)

Plastics and Polymers have been inseparable parts of our lives. From the daily use of plastics

in commodity applications to the specialized applications in auto-components, medical and

spacecrafts, it is difficult to imagine life without polymers. The polymer industry has seen

unprecedented growth in the last few decades. Polymer Engineering profession involves the

knowledge of materials in everyday life and development of new materials that would meet

societal and technological needs.

Polymer Engineering Department came into existence in the year 1983 as a part of

Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune. It is the only institute offering an Undergraduate,

Post Graduate courses an addition to Ph.D. program, and now has become a part of MIT

World Peace University.

Our B. Tech. Program is based on the three cardinal principles -

• Providing social context to education

• Giving maximum choice to the student to choose a career path

• Encouraging active lifelong learning

Why to Choose?

Polymer Engineering course offers students career opportunities in wide variety of areas

such as plastics, rubbers, fibers, composites, paints, coatings, adhesives, recycling and waste

management, biopolymers, polymers in electronics, healthcare, automobile and aerospace

applications, etc.
