To many American Millennials, thelong-term national debt may seem likean abstract concern. In an era ofuncertain job market prospects andpolitical polarization, the country’slong-term national debt is consistentlyplaced on the back burner by ourpolitical leaders on both sides of theaisle. Our generation actually has themost at stake when it comes to policydecisions made today about ourcountry’s long-term fiscal andeconomic future, and it’s up to us tocome together and speak up.
Our generation has an essential role toplay in this debate. Up to Us is anopportunity for students to educatetheir peers on these issues in anonpartisan way, by empowering ourgeneration to have a voice and start theconversation about our future, together.

Event Hosting Stipend: Everyone who hosts an Up to Us event receives an eventhosting stipend. This stipend should be used for costs associated with hosting yourevent (e.g. food, raffle prizes, swag, signage, printing, art materials, etc.)
Participant Goal: For each event, you have a goal for the number participants reached
Bonus Stipend: If you reach your participant goal, you receive an extra bonus of $150!

Public Art InstallationCreate a piece of art on your campus that relates to the long-termnational debt. The result could be a series of individual pieces or onelarge installation located in a public place on campus
Fiscal Fitness Bootcamp
Use any or all of our signature MTCD activities below to raiseawareness about the long-term national debt during a day of action onyour campus. This is a light-touch event meant to grab people’sattention and get them thinking about the long-term national debt

Gather Up to UsGather Up to UsPledgesPledgesAt any event you hold, you want to get as manyattendees as possible to sign the Up to Us pledge. Thepledge is attendees’ way of taking action to let theirrepresentatives know that they care about the long-term national debt. In May, student representatives ofUp to Us will deliver signed pledges to U.S.Congressional legislators.

Many college campuses offer courses for freshman on how to besuccessful, including classes on resume writing, time management,and personal finances. Present at the personal finance lecture andspeak broadly on the issue of personal/household finances and howthey may be connected to the nation’s economy, long-term fiscaloutlook, and long-term national debt to engage new students oncampus
