Alabama Rural Ministry Summer Staff

ARM summer staff run a youth missions camp for two months to form a supportive, encouraging Christian community between each other, the youth and the families with whom they interact.

Staff members work together to design evening worship and daily devotional for youth teams and maintain the sites and flow of activities.Three types of summer staff positions available:

construction coordinators- serve as facilitators for the home repair work teams day camp coordinators- coordinate bible studies, games, crafts, and more for children 5 to 12-years-old site leaders- manages the site and communicates with work teams Staff members are assigned to one of two sites, Sumter or Macon county. Staff are expected to attend two weeks of train-ing at the beginning of the summer and a retreat at the end of the summer.

What does a staff member do?

We believe Christ’s love

must be expressed in action

to people in need. ARM is a

hands-on ministry, responding

to people through

Christian love, with an

emphasis in housing repair

and children’s ministry.

Compensation is in the form of

a scholarship at the end of the

summer. The base scholarship

is $1,700. Staff members have the opportunity to raise this amount to $4,000 through

individual fundraising. Compensation also includes

a weekly $20 stipend, housing and most meals.

My favorite aspect of working on summer staff was being able to see God work through the youth that came to the work sites. The experience was so rewarding I served as a volunteer staffer the following summer. -Page

TestimonialsIt was encouraging to think about repairing homes all summer long in the Alabama heat for families who might not be able to do it for themselves and talking about Christ with them. -Clark
