In most every industry worldwide, from chemicals to food, plastics,pharmaceuticals and countless others, youll find AccuRate
volumetric feeders at work, metering fine powders, flakes, granules,chips, fibers, pellets, and anything else imaginable.
Instead of incorporating traditional internal stirring or vibrationdevices to keep material moving, AccuRate pioneered the Tuf-Flexseamless vinyl hopper, that is externally massaged by two agitationpaddles. Material is conditioned to a uniform bulk density, evenlyfilling the flights of the feed screw, eliminating ratholing andbridging. The result is excellent volumetric accuracy. Volumetric
feeding deviations range from +/-0.5% to 3% for most materials.
The SolidsFlow Model 2000 is a lowmaintenance, easy to clean feeder thathandles materials whose flow characteristicsmay differ. With no moving parts and very fewspare parts needed, the Model 2000 requireslittle maintenance. The trademark of thisfeeder is its ability to feed friable and abrasivematerials like steel wool, graphite, polyes-ter, and wood pulp just to name a few.

SolidsFlow Model 5000 StreamoutFeeders deliver a controlled, curtain-likeuniform flow across feed tray outlets avail-

Multicor S Series of mass flow meters are

FLOW METERS
THE CORIOLIS PRINCIPLE
AccuRates Multicor mass flow meter line uses the science of particleacceleration and its resultant forces to measure flow rate and total weight ataccuracies of +/- 0.5%. Space efficiency and overall reliability make Multicor
an ideal choice for feeding, measuring, and batching applications involving
reasonably free-flowing dry materials.The Multicor consists of a partitioned measuring wheel, mounted on a drive shaftinside a central dust tight housing. The drive shaft is driven by an electric motormounted outside the Multicors housing. Material enters the unit through an
off-center inlet and discharges through a center outlet below the measuring wheel.
In operation, the measuring wheel rotates at a constant speed. Material enteringthe unit flows into the top of the measuring wheel and is deflected outward in aradial direction creating a Coriolis force. The Multicor sees this force as achange in torque, which is detected by a strain-gauge load cell. The output ofthe load cell is electronically processed to produce flow rate and total weightvalues at accuracies of +/- 0.5%. Best of all, unlike other flow meters on themarket, Multicors performance is not affected by material density, friction orin-feed drop height.
PREFERRED PREFEED DEVICESFor use with the Multicor, the preferred prefeeddevices are screw and/or rotary feeders.
SCREW FEEDERSScrew feeders offer more flexibility for plant layout,since length and angle are adjustable to the require-ments. They also offer a higher turndown ratio thanrotary feeders.
ROTARY FEEDERSThe cost of rotary feeders, in mostcases, is less and they are morecompact and have a lower powerrating. In applications with pressuredifferentials exceeding 5mbar, arotary feeder above the Multicor isrequired and a rotary valve below theMulticor is also required.
CONSTANT MATERIAL FLOWThe use of a prefeed device insures
that a constant material flow(without any pulsing) to the Multicor

test lab staffed by experienced materialhandling specialists, AccuRate customers havean opportunity to witness a live material testinvolving their own material and theequipment under consideration. Videos aresupplied to customers who are unable toattend a material test.
In all but a few special cases, our TestCenter provides testing services free of charge.A day or two of time invested in the test labenables equipment configurations andperformance to be confirmed, starts the
training process, and noticeably shortenscommissioning and start-up times.

THE TESTING PROCESS
Since the testing methods can be as important as the results themselves, AccuRate
has developed a process that uses analytical tests and actual equipment specificperformance tests to select the optimum solution for each application. Starting withthe use of a Jenike & Johanson Shear Tester, a battery of tests can be run todetermine compressibility (bulk density as a function of pressure), particle size distri-bution, angle of repose, angle of slope, moisture content, proper hopper wall anglefor mass flow, and minimum hopper outlet diameter. This information is then used toselect the proper equipment configuration or verify selections made previously.
Adjustments are made and additional tests verified until optimum performance hasbeen reached.
Best of all, in addition to the equipment warranty, lab testing enables AccuRate
to offer its customers an application-specificperformance guarantee.
