OFSTED 2017 : SAFEGUARDING: Ofsted recognised Brixham College’s strong culture

of safeguarding where parents feel that communication with school staff

is good and that their children receive the support they need.

Ofsted also praised the SIXTH FORM at Brixham College:

The quality of teaching and the programme of study is good.

Students value the expert subject knowledge of teachers, have good

pastoral support, value the enrichment opportunities available and

are well supported with careers advice and guidance.”

LEADERSHIP: In its report Ofsted also praised Brixham College’s strong focus on values; its experienced, good, strong, motivated leadership and governance; its strong team ethos and its well-trained teachers and leaders. resulted in a significant improvement in GCSE performance and

more students choosing languages as a GCSE option.

MAKING CONTINUAL PROGRESS: Inspectors also found

that Brixham College had responded well to challenges raised in

the last Ofsted to raise levels of attendance and overcome barriers

to attendance. Also, that progress for boys continues to improve

as a result of more staff training alongside focused and robust

initiatives designed to raise expectations, boost motivation and

invigorate a commitment to learning.

We are effectively embedding new teaching initiatives, techniques and learning strategies which have made the most impact, across the college. As these take root, we will find ourselves in an even stronger position at the next Ofsted Inspection.
