Introductionto Brittany Ferries

Who are Brittany Ferries?• A car ferry operator linking nine ports and four countries: UK – France,

UK – Spain, and Ireland – France

• The market leader on the Western Channel – specialists in this area since 1974

• BAI UK Ltd – part of the French owned Brittany Ferries Group. Other companies involved are BAI Cork and Brittany Ferries Freight

• Multi-award winning service. Voted ‘Best Ferry Company 2007’ by readers of the Telegraph.

Did you know?• 75% of all UK passengers who travel to France on the Western Channel,

travel with Brittany Ferries

• Up to 23 sailings a day provide a capacity for 11,000 cars and 35,000 passengers

• We carry nearly 3 million passengers and 1 million cars every year

• Up to 6,604 beds are made per night by Brittany Ferries staff, that is more than the Ritz, the Savoy and the Waldorf in London combined make in a week

• The Brittany Ferries fleet covers 750k nautical miles each year which is the equivalent of going 35 times around the world

• 3 million baguettes are baked on board each year

• 6,000 hectolitres of beer are consumed on board per year, the equivalent of 1.2 million pints. This represents the quantity of beer served in 50 successful French brasseries

• The combined tonnage of the fleet is 189,000 tonnes, that is the equivalent of one fifth of the world’s population of blue whales

• The Pont-Aven’s cabin capacity (650 cabins) adds up to 2,012 berths. If you knotted all the sheets together, you could escape from a 1,200-storey building

What can Brittany Ferries offer your clients?Brittany Ferries provide the widest choice of routes to France and Spain that can take your clients far closer to the popular holiday regions, saving miles of unnecessary driving through the congested roads of north east France and south east England.

We’re continuously looking for ways to improve our services, and this year has seen a number of important developments.

New route to SpainFrom this spring, we’re going to be running a new weekly service from Portsmouth to Santander, to complement our existing Plymouth-Santander service. Both routes will be served by our magnificent flagship, Pont-Aven, which will continue to provide the fastest, most luxurious ferry crossing to Spain. And with just one relaxing night on board, excellent facilities and award-winning service, it’s clearly the most convenient route to Spain.

New ferry for Plymouth-RoscoffWe’re proud to announce the arrival of our new cruise ferry, ‘Armorique’. Linking the western regions of the UK and France, it offers passengers new levels of space, comfort and service. The new £100m vessel has been custom built for our Plymouth-Roscoff route, and features a wide range of onboard facilities to ensure that passengers can enjoy the most comfortable start as possible to their holiday.

Bretagne refurbishmentThis year, we’re investing approx £5m in the refurbishment of the Bretagne. We’ll be upgrading some of the cabins, converting a number of existing cabins to Club Class Family, as well adding new furniture to the majority of cabins on board. On top of this, we’ll also be expanding the Salon de Thé and opening up the reclining seat lounges to make them more spacious.

Barfleur refurbishment Over the winter, sections of the Barfleur will be refurbished and redesigned. The main à la carte restaurant will be closed and replaced with a new ‘Games Planet’ for teenage passengers, the self-service restaurant will be made larger and will offer a new brasserie style menu and service, and the Salon de Thé will be changed to offer a wide range of snacks and pastries.
