solar thermal“In an average family home about 20-25% of the combined annual energy bill is just for water heating”With a BritishEco Solar Thermal system 50-70% of your water heating will be virtually FREE. This means that in the summer months the system can provide almost all your hot water needs. Put simply, a Solar Thermal system will save you money and reduce your impact on the environment by an average of around one tonne of CO2 a year.

It is a myth that the UK doesn’t have enough sunlight for effective solar water heating. Today’s efficient, high performance thermal collector designs means that Solar Thermal is one of the most cost effective and powerful renewable energy solutions available.

Most homes are compatible with either a flat plate or evacuated tube solar system, which takes just one day to install. Systems can be fitted on the roof or embedded into the roof tiles and can also be used to heat swimming pools.

solar pv“For centuries we have been able to harness the power of the sun but it is only recently that we have been able to trap and store that power effectively”Photovoltaic (PV) cells, or solar panels as they are more commonly known, use the energy from the sun to generate electricity with no waste and no emissions. This can be used to run appliances and lighting in the normal way.

Solar panel design continues to become more efficient and more cost effective so are increasingly being used to ensure compliance to new building regulations that specify renewables.

Solar PV panels do not rely on direct sunlight to work – as long as there is daylight, power will be generated. Each system will be sized to suit the particular client and will depend on budget, roof area, energy needs and panel type. And you will have the added benefit of being able to sell excess energy back to the national grid to reduce your overall bill.

wind turbines“Wind power is a popular source of energy as it is clean, abundant and fully renewable”When specified and installed properly Wind Turbines can offer excellent value for money, providing free electrical energy all year round. Excess energy generated can now be sold back to the national grid leaving the user to pay just the difference between what is generated and what is used.

Wind Turbines are available in various sizes from the small micro systems through to large scale industrial power generators. With new technology emerging it is now becoming feasible to use Wind Turbines successfully in urban areas.

rainwater harvesting“Systems to capture and use rainwater for non-potable applications can save up to 50% of your water usage”Not only will these systems provide perfectly clean and filtered water for applications such as toilet flushing, laundry, general cleaning and garden irrigation, these systems also acts as a buffer during storms to help prevent flooding. It is possible to beat the hose-pipe ban and also save money on your water bills. As the pressure builds on our scare water resources Rainwater Harvesting is fast becoming an essential part of sustainable living which is now incorporated into The Code for Sustainable Homes.

The range includes a simple collection system for garden irrigation through to complete packages with pumps and sensors to deliver water seamlessly to garden, toilets and washing machines.

heat pumps“Energy is stored all around us in the ground, the air and water and is constantly replenished by the heat of the sun”Heat Pumps are electrically powered appliances consisting of a compressor and two carefully matched heat exchangers designed to provide space heating through water systems (either radiators or under-floor) by extracting from a free, renewable energy source such as the ground, air or water.

The heat stored within the ground, water or air is constantly replenished by the heat of the sun. Even at air temperatures as low as -15oC it is still possible to extract considerable heat.

Using this proven, and simple technology similar to your domestic fridge, Heat Pumps are reliable, very low maintenance and can provide large cost savings compared to electrical, oil or LPG systems.

biomass“Wood is a renewable, sustainable, cheap and safe source of energy. The UK has good potential for competitively priced wood fuel production”Wood fuel is carbon neutral as the CO2 emitted when it is burnt is the same as that originally absorbed during the life cycle of the growing plant.

For small scale domestic applications the fuel usually takes the form of wood pellets, wood chips or logs. These products are cost effective compared to fossil fuels and are independent of commodity trading effects that we often see with fossil fuels.

Systems can be supplied with automatic feeds to make it’s use as simple as possible and a family home can save over ten tonnes of CO2 per year when swapping from a traditional oil fired boiler.
